Here’s a quick roundup of miles & points news you should know about!

1.   Southwest Changes the Value of Their Points

Via View From the Wing, Southwest is slightly increasing the amount of points it will cost for Wanna Get Away fares (the cheapest option).  And drastically decreasing the amount of points it will cost for Anytime and Business Select tickets.

Southwest Flies to Fun International Locations, Like the Many Islands in the Caribbean!

Most of us always redeem our points for Wanna Get Away fares.  So this is BAD news for us.  However, if all the cheap fares are sold out, it will now be less of a bummer if we have to buy an Anytime fare!  Because the prices are more reasonable.

2.   Bonus Southwest Points With TurboTax

You Can Score Some Great Travel Deals With Daily Getaways. But You’ll Have to Be Fast!

In previous years, the best offers have sold out very quickly!  But we’ll remind you of the daily discounts throughout the promotion when it arrives.  So you can decide which deals you’re interested in.

4.   Use Chase Ultimate Rewards Points for Gift Cards

If you have any Chase Sapphire, Chase Ink, or Chase Freedom cards, you can cash them in for gift cards and receive a 10% discount at the following merchants:

  • Bed Bath & Beyond
  • The Children’s Place
  • eBay
  • Express
  • JCPenney
  • REI
  • Sephora

Some gift cards have limited quantity, so if this deal interests you, you should take advantage of it sooner rather than later.  Just go to the Chase Ultimate Rewards site and choose to redeem your points for gift cards.

Note:   I do NOT recommend using your Chase Ultimate Rewards points this way.  You’ll get much more value when you redeem your points for travel!
