Here is what you need to know.

Cruise Line Deals

If you’re planning a cruise, you’re in luck!  There are a couple nice discounts on select cruise line bookings.

1.   Barclaycard Credit Cards

Barclaycard is targeting some cardholders for a $150 statement credit for booking a Carnival cruise.  So check your inbox to see if you got an email.

To qualify you’ll need to:

  • Book your Carnival cruise between February 16 and March 15, 2018
  • Pay with your targeted Barclaycard credit card
  • Book directly with Carnival or a Carnival approved travel agent

Once you make a qualifying transaction, your bonus should post within 8 weeks.

2.   AMEX Offers

Link:   Discount on World’s Leading Cruise Lines

There is currently an AMEX Offer for $100 back after spending $500+ with World’s Leading Cruise Lines.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Offer expires May 31, 2018
  • Eligible cruise lines are: Carnival, Holland America, Princess Cruises, Seabourn, or Cunard
  • Gift cards are excluded
  • Purchases of the following will not qualify unless they are booked at the time of reservation:  Airfare booked through cruise line, excursions, prepaid food & beverage programs, prepaid gratuities, prepaid Wi-Fi packages, spa packages, photo & video packages, on-board celebrations, etc.
  • Limit of 1 statement credit per AMEX card

If you have multiple AMEX cards targeted for this deal (including authorized user cards), be sure to use to this trick to add the offer to each card.  This could work out great if you can split up a large payment over several AMEX cards.

If you’ve never taken advantage of AMEX offers before, check out my step-by-step guide to adding AMEX offers to your cards.

Bottom Line

Barclaycard and AMEX are offering discounts for cruise line purchases!

The Barclaycard offer is for a $150 statement credit after booking a Carnival cruise between February 16 and March 15, 2018.  But it appears to be targeted to only certain cardholders. 🙁  So be sure to check your inbox and spam folder!

If you have an AMEX card, you can add an AMEX offer for $100 back after spending $500+ with World’s Leading Cruise Lines.  The deal expires on May 31, 2018.

With both deals, you only need book and pay for the cruise by the expiration date, NOT actually travel before the offer ends.

I searched for the date by which the cruise must be taken, but could not find one. To me, it is not clear just when one must take the cruise. I know you said there is no expiration date, but where did you find that in the terms.
Thank you, Lisa

Million Mile Secrets

The deals expire on March 15, 2018, and May 31, 2018, respectively. So you'll have to book and pay for your cruise by which ever dates applies to the offer you qualify for. But when you actually take the cruise doesn't matter in regards to getting the discount.

Thanks. How do you know that, for sure? Not trying to be difficult, but I just do not see that info in the terms. Did you get something else from Barclay's as well?

Million Mile Secrets

No need to apologize Lisa. So with AMEX Offers, the credit is automatically applied to your account once you make a qualifying purchase. That's the way all AMEX Offers work. So AMEX won't look at the details of the cruise you booked, the system just recognizes the charges and gives you the credit.

The Barclay offer should work the same way. This is why the date of the cruise isn't mentioned in the terms. But if you're still uncertain, I would give a call to which ever bank you got a offer from and maybe they can give you a more definitive answer.

I was targeted for the $150 credit with my Barclaycard, but the problem is that I've already booked a carnival cruise and am currently making payments towards it. Any ideas on if the credit could be applied by simply making a $150 payment? Im not sure how that it could be determined that this payment was not made for booking.

Million Mile Secrets

I'm not sure if it will work or not, but if you're already making payments it's worth trying.

100 USD out of 500 is 20% off, but the bill will be much more than 500 so the actual discount will hardly get to 5%.

Million Mile Secrets

Depending on what type of cruise you book that's definitely true. But if you have multiple AMEX cards you could get the $100 credit on each card.
