I know lots of Million Mile Secrets readers are excited to hear this news! Because Southwest has no blackout dates. If a flight is available for sale, you can book using points!
And adding Hawaii as a destination is especially good news for folks who will have the Southwest Companion Pass (the best deal in travel) in 2018. Because you’ll be able to add a friend or loved one to your paid or award ticket by just paying taxes & fees!
Southwest already flies to wonderful warm weather destinations like Mexico, Jamaica, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Cuba. And soon they’ll fly to Hawaii!
The airline hasn’t revealed specific routes yet. And flights to The Aloha State are still subject to government approval. But the announcement indicates the non-stop routes to Hawaii will depart from California.
Million Mile Secrets team member Keith is ecstatic about this news! Because he has the Companion Pass through December 31, 2018. So he and his wife can get almost 2-for-1 travel on flights to Hawaii!
I’m a big fan of Southwest because:
There are no blackout dates on award flights
Award flight prices are based on the cash cost of the flight
You get 2 free checked bags on every flight
You don’t pay change or cancel fees on paid or award flights
And new competition on routes to Hawaii is great for travelers. Because this means other airlines will have to try harder to earn your business!
This is amazing news because Southwest has no blackout dates on award flights. And it’s even better news for folks with the Southwest Companion Pass. Because a friend or loved one can join you on flights to Hawaii for just the cost of taxes & fees!
Are you looking forward to flying Southwest to Hawaii?
