This is a good deal because 50,000 Citi ThankYou points are worth at least $625 in travel with no blackout dates when you book through the ThankYou® Travel Center . Or possibly more if you transfer them to to airline and hotel partners!
That said, the Citi Prestige will soon offer an even better sign-up bonus. And because of Citi’s application rules, it’s worth comparing the 2 to see which one makes sense for you.
I’ll share the details of the Citi ThankYou Premier card. And help you decide if it’s right for you!

You can now earn 50,000 Citi ThankYou points when you sign-up for the Citi ThankYou Premier card and spend $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of opening your account.
Most recently, the sign-up bonus was just 30,000 Citi ThankYou points. So this is a much better offer!
Along with the sign-up bonus, you’ll get perks like:
- 3X Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent on travel (ex. airfare, gas stations, taxis, tolls)
- 2X Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent on dining and entertainment (amusement parks, sporting events, movies)
- No foreign transaction fees
And the $95 annual fee is waived the first year.
Is It Worth It?
I’ve written about how you can use 50,000 Citi ThankYou points, like booking $625 in paid travel through the ThankYou Travel Center. Without having to worry about blackout dates!
Or get great deals by transferring to partners like:
- Virgin Atlantic to fly to Hawaii on Hawaiian Airlines
- Flying Blue to book Promo Awards (These are discount awards to Europe on Air France and KLM that change each month)
- Singapore Airlines to fly to Hawaii on United Airlines
So you can NOT get 2 Citi ThankYou points earning cards at the same time. And the Citi Prestige will soon offer a 75,000 Citi ThankYou point sign-up bonus (worth at least $750 in airfare!) after spending $7,500 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.
That said, some might prefer the Citi ThankYou Premier offer for the lower minimum spending requirement, lower annual fee, and better bonus on travel purchases, including gas. Which can really add up for folks who drive a lot!
There’s a new offer to earn 50,000 Citi ThankYou points with the Citi ThankYou Premier card after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.
Previously, the sign-up bonus was only 30,000 Citi ThankYou points. So this is a better deal!
But the Citi Prestige will soon have an even bigger sign-up bonus. So I’d suggest comparing the 2 to see which makes sense for you, because you will NOT be able to get both cards at once.
