We are an independent publisher. Our reporters create honest, accurate, and objective content to help you make decisions. To support our work, we are paid for providing advertising services. Many, but not all, of the offers and clickable hyperlinks (such as a “Next” button) that appear on this site are from companies that compensate us. The compensation we receive and other factors, such as your location, may impact what ads and links appear on our site, and how, where, and in what order ads and links appear. While we strive to provide a wide range of offers, our site does not include information about every product or service that may be available to you. We strive to keep our information accurate and up-to-date, but some information may not be current. So, your actual offer terms from an advertiser may be different than the offer terms on this site. And the advertised offers may be subject to additional terms and conditions of the advertiser. All information is presented without any warranty or guarantee to you.

This page may include: credit card ads that we may be paid for (“advertiser listing”); and general information about credit card products (“editorial content”). Many, but not all, of the offers and clickable hyperlinks (such as a “Apply Now” button or “Learn More” button) that appear on this site are from companies that compensate us. When you click on that hyperlink or button, you may be directed to the credit card issuer’s website where you can review the terms and conditions for your selected offer. Each advertiser is responsible for the accuracy and availability of its ad offer details, but we attempt to verify those offer details. We have partnerships with advertisers such as Brex, Capital One, Chase, Citi, Wells Fargo and Discover. We also include editorial content to educate consumers about financial products and services. Some of that content may also contain ads, including links to advertisers’ sites, and we may be paid on those ads or links.

I was able to find the sale fares by searching on ITA Matrix and Google Flights.

Be Sure to Get a Promotion Code to Lower Your Fare by $80!

Keep in mind you have to get an $80 promotion code from Hainan Airlines at this link to get the lower price.

Simply Click the Button, Then Copy Your Code

Enter the promotion code on the final payment screen to get $80 taken off your ticket!  If you want to save it for later, it’s valid for travel until June 30, 2016.

This is a terrific deal!  And a great chance for folks to explore 2 vibrant cities for very little money.  Usually, flights from the US to China start at ~$800 or more, depending on the time of year. Update:   Thanks to Million Mile Secrets reader josh for reminding folks to sign-up for the Hainan Airlines frequent flyer program.  You can use their miles to book award tickets on Air Berlin!

Or consider crediting your flight to partner Alaska Airlines.  The fare class only earns 50% miles, but if you collect Alaska Airlines miles this could be a better deal!

Book Quickly, but…

If you’re looking for a cheap ticket to Beijing or Shanghai, you should book this quickly.  Low fares don’t last long.  Read my post about booking mistake and low fares.

That said, this is NOT a mistake fare.  It’s a very good seat sale!  So once you’ve booked you should be able to confidently make other arrangements, like hotels and tours.

What If You’re Not in an Included City?

You can get to Boston, Chicago, San Jose, or Seattle cheaply by using points (like British Airways Avios points) to get there.

British Airways Avios points are great for short-haul flights.  Because it only costs 4,500 British Airways Avios points 1-way in coach for flights less than 649 miles (until February 3, 2016), and 7,500 British Airways Avios points for flights up to 1,149 miles.

Or if you have the Southwest Companion Pass, you could fly to these cities very cheaply.  That’s because with the Companion Pass, your companion flies with you for almost free on both paid and award tickets.

Or you could try to find a cheap paid ticket from your home airport to 1 of the sale cities.  But do the math to see what makes sense to you!

If you book a cheap flight, remember there are lots of ways to get cheap or free hotel rooms with points from credit card bonuses and spending!

Here’s my post on top Starwood hotels in Asia and Australia to book with Starwood points, including 1 in Beijing!

To find hotels that can be booked with points, I like using Hotel Hustle (which even shows you if rooms are actually available!) or AwardMapper.

Remember, you can transfer flexible points like Chase Ultimate Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards to different hotel programs.

You Can Transfer Points From Bank and Airline Programs to Hotels Like Hilton

Check out my posts on all the ways to earn Hilton and Hyatt points!

Note:  Folks who want to book paid stays could check out discount sites like Orbitz, Expedia, or TravelPony for deals.  But remember you won’t get stay credits or points (and might not have your elite status recognized). Airbnb is a great way to save money on accommodations, especially for longer stays.
