We are an independent publisher. Our reporters create honest, accurate, and objective content to help you make decisions. To support our work, we are paid for providing advertising services. Many, but not all, of the offers and clickable hyperlinks (such as a “Next” button) that appear on this site are from companies that compensate us. The compensation we receive and other factors, such as your location, may impact what ads and links appear on our site, and how, where, and in what order ads and links appear. While we strive to provide a wide range of offers, our site does not include information about every product or service that may be available to you. We strive to keep our information accurate and up-to-date, but some information may not be current. So, your actual offer terms from an advertiser may be different than the offer terms on this site. And the advertised offers may be subject to additional terms and conditions of the advertiser. All information is presented without any warranty or guarantee to you.

This page may include: credit card ads that we may be paid for (“advertiser listing”); and general information about credit card products (“editorial content”). Many, but not all, of the offers and clickable hyperlinks (such as a “Apply Now” button or “Learn More” button) that appear on this site are from companies that compensate us. When you click on that hyperlink or button, you may be directed to the credit card issuer’s website where you can review the terms and conditions for your selected offer. Each advertiser is responsible for the accuracy and availability of its ad offer details, but we attempt to verify those offer details. We have partnerships with advertisers such as Brex, Capital One, Chase, Citi, Wells Fargo and Discover. We also include editorial content to educate consumers about financial products and services. Some of that content may also contain ads, including links to advertisers’ sites, and we may be paid on those ads or links.

Use This Promotion to Stay at the Le Parker Meridien New York for Less

Here’s what you need to know about this deal.

Planning to stay at a Starwood hotel in North or Latin America between September 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017?  Check out Starwood’s latest promotion!

If you have an AMEX credit card, you’ll get 40% off the 2nd night at select Starwood hotels worldwide!  Just book through the promotional link and use any American Express card to pay for the room.

Here are the details:

Lots of hotels are taking part in this promotion, so it should be pretty easy to find a participating Starwood hotel along your travels.

Is This a Good Deal?

A 40% discount on your 2nd night is a good deal!  But after doing some digging, it doesn’t look like you’ll always get a 40% discount.

For example, the member rate for 2 nights at The Westin Lombard Yorktown Center for September 22, 2017, to September 24, 2017, is ~$272.  But you’ll get the same stay for ~$229 with this discount.  That’s a savings of $43, which is ($272 normal price for 2 nights / 2 nights = $136 per night.  $43 savings off 2nd night / $136 room rate = 31% off the 2nd night).

That’s not a 40% savings, but it’s still a nice discount.

This Promotion Will Give You a Large Discount at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center

However, the member rate for a stay at the Four Points by Sheraton Buffalo Grove from September 16,2017, to September 18, 2017, is ~$212.  But booking the same stay through this promotion only brings the price down to ~$204.  That is nowhere near the advertised discount.

You’ll Receive Just an ~$8 Discount With This Promotion at the Four Points by Sheraton Buffalo Grove

It’s worth checking the regular price of the hotel before you take advantage of this promotion.  Because you may not be getting anywhere near the deal you think you are!

There aren’t many ways to earn Starwood points.  But if you have the AMEX Starwood personal or small business card, you’ll get 2 points per $1 on eligible purchases at Starwood hotels.

The personal AMEX Starwood card comes with 25,000 Starwood points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  And the AMEX Starwood small business card comes with 25,000 Starwood points after spending $5,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.

But remember, you’re only eligible to earn AMEX sign-up bonuses ONCE per card, per lifetime.

You can also use other AMEX cards, like the Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express, or The Platinum Card® from American Express, to book this promotion.

Bottom Line

Starwood is advertising 40% off the 2nd night when you book 2+ consecutive nights at participating hotels in North and Latin America.  But you’ll have to book directly through Starwood, and pre-pay with any American Express card.

That’s a great deal, but it may be difficult to find hotels that actually give you a full 40% off your 2nd night.  The hotels I checked gave much less than 40% off.  So compare the regular room price to the promotional price to make sure it’s a worthwhile deal!
