    Air Canada is offering discounted tickets from a number of US cities, including Seattle, San Diego, Denver, and more, to China’s capital, Beijing, for under $400 round-trip!

    There are cheap fares from October 2018 through April 2019, depending on your departure city.

    For example, I found round-trip coach flights starting at $369 from cities including:

    Because you’ll be flying Air Canada, all of these flights route through Vancouver.

    To search for discounted routes that fit your travel plans, see our post for how to use Google Flights to find sale dates.  Then book directly on the airlines’ website, or through a site like Expedia.

    Unfortunately, these cheap fares don’t seem to be showing up in the Chase or AMEX travel portals.  I searched for a number of different discounted flights I found on Google Flights but didn’t see them on the travel portals.  So it doesn’t look like you’ll be able to pay with points for this deal.

    Booking a Hotel

    If you book a sale flight, remember there are lots of ways to get cheap or free hotel rooms with points from credit card bonuses and spending.  To find hotels that can be booked with points, I use AwardMapper.

    Remember, you can transfer flexible points like Chase Ultimate Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards to different hotel programs.  

    Note:  If you prefer to book paid stays, check out discount sites like Orbitz or Expedia for deals.  But remember, you won’t get stay credits or points (and might not have your elite status recognized!).

    And always be sure to book your travel with a card that earns bonus miles for travel purchases, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card or Citi Premier Card!
