    You can save 30% off certain Singapore Airlines coach and Premium Economy award flights when you book by November 16, 2016. 

    All of the discounted flights include Singapore as the departure or destination city.

    The discount applies to flights between February 6, 2017, and May 31, 2017.

    You’ll pay high taxes and fees on Singapore Airlines award flights, so you’ll want to do the math to see if using miles makes sense.  Although Singapore Airlines miles are easy to earn because you can transfer points from all 4 flexible points programs.

    1.   Discounted US to Singapore Coach Award Flights

    You can get the 30% discount on coach award flights from 4 US cities to Singapore.  For a round-trip flight from the US to Singapore, you’ll pay:

    But you’ll also have to pay high taxes and fees.

    For example, I looked at a round-trip flight departing San Francisco on March 7, 2017, and returning from Singapore on March 16, 2017.  With the discount, you’ll pay 49,000 Singapore Airlines miles and ~$552 in taxes and fees.

    This same flight only costs ~$822 if you paid cash.  So you woudn’t get great value for your miles by booking the discounted award flight.

    Of course, you’ll want to do the math to see if it makes sense to pay cash and save your miles for a different redemption.

    2.   Discounted US to Singapore Premium Economy Award Flights

    You can also get the 30% discount on Premium Economy award flights from 2 US cities to Singapore.  For a round-trip flight from the US to Singapore, you’ll pay:

    This same flight costs ~$2,340 if you paid cash.

    Again, you’ll want to do the the math to see if you should pay cash and save miles for a different redemption.

    You can use Singapore Airlines miles to book award flights on Star Alliance partners like United Airlines.  And you don’t have to pay fuel surcharges on United Airlines flights!

    You might even be able to save miles by booking through Singapore Airlines.

    For examples, it’s cheaper to use Singapore Airlines miles for United Airlines award flights to Hawaii.

    2.   Singapore Airlines First Class Suite Award Seats

    Singapore Airlines A380 First Class suites are one of the best airline experiences in the world.  You get champagne, excellent dining options, and a private, enclosed suite with a lay-flat bed.

    But First Class suite tickets can cost more than $8,000 if you paid cash!

    Instead, you can use Singapore Airlines miles to save you lots of money!

    For example, you’ll pay 93,500 Singapore Airlines miles plus ~$288 for a First Class suites award ticket from New York (JFK) to Singapore (via Frankfurt).

    I’d gladly pay the taxes and fees on this flight to have an amazing flying experience!
