Bummer, Alaska Airlines Is Ending Their Best Price Guarantee

    Well, like many things in our hobby, the good deals don’t seem to last forever.

    Alaska Airlines announced they’re ending their best price guarantee, where if you booked a flight and later found a cheaper fare on their site, you could request a credit.  Any tickets booked after August 31, 2018, will no longer be covered under this guarantee.

    This is really disappointing news because Alaska Airlines has long been one of the few airlines I considered to be more customer friendly.  With perks like free beer and wine on most of their flights.

    However, Alaska MVP Gold and Alaska MVP Gold 75K elite members will still be able to cancel re-book their flights without extra fees and receive a credit for the price difference.

    Other airlines still offer price guarantees, but they limit the amount of time after booking that the guarantee is valid.  JetBlue, for example, will give you a credit voucher for the price difference if you find a lower price within 5 days of booking.  Most other airlines, like Delta, American, and United Airlines only give you a 24-hour period.  And of course Southwest continues to stand alone as the only major airline with no cancellation or change fees.
