Hyatt has sired the uncontested best hotel promotions we’ve seen in the past few months. Its new promotion allows members to earn up to 2,500 bonus points for every two nights completed, plus a free night certificate after staying 10 nights. And if you have the World of Hyatt Credit Card, you’ll be rewarded up to 5,000 points if you make it your primary spending tool this February.
Best of all, Hyatt has dramatically lowered their requirements to earning top-tier Globalist elite status in 2021.

Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion [new]
Hyatt has launched a new promotion with the same Bonus Journeys title. It takes effect on March 1 for stays through June 15. Here’s what you can earn:
- Earn 2,000 bonus points after every two qualifying nights at Hyatt hotels
- World of Hyatt Credit Card cardmembers earn 2,500 Bonus Points every two qualifying nights at Hyatt hotels
- All members earn a free night award for a category 1-4 property after your first ten qualifying nights (expires 6 months after being issued)
You must register for the promotion here, before you complete any stays, to be eligible for the bonus points and free night certificate.
Good deal or not?
This is a solid deal, especially if you have paid Hyatt stays coming up that don’t cost a lot. We value 2500 Hyatt points at $38. Plus, after 10 nights you’d earn a free night certificate that can be used at a hotel that costs up to 15,000 points.
Let’s say you were to spend 10 nights at a Hyatt hotel and had a World of Hyatt Credit Card. You’d end up with 12,500 bonus points (worth $188) and a certificate that could be worth up to $225 — that’s a total value over $400. This could be a great return if you’re staying at a cheaper Hyatt property.
Remember, these bonus points are on top of the rewards you’d normally earn when staying at a Hyatt hotel!
Note: You may value the free night certificate at a lower value for two reasons:
- The certificate expires six months after it’s issued (while points do not)
- The certificate is capped at 15,000 points, and you combine it with points to secure a more expensive hotel. 15,000 Hyatt points are worth more than a 15,000-point certificate because they can be used toward higher-end hotel stays
World of Hyatt February Spend Offer
If you have the World of Hyatt Credit Card (or even if you have the previously available Chase Hyatt Card), you can earn up to 5,000 bonus points based on your card usage, through Feb. 28, 2021.
- 10 transactions = 1,000 bonus points
- 25 transactions = 2,5000 bonus points
- 50+ transactions = 5,000 bonus points
Each transaction must total at least one dollar to qualify. Purchases made with Swipe, Contactless, Tap and Pay, Apple Pay, Digital Wallet, reoccurring transactions, etc. all qualify.
If you can make 50 transactions of one dollar, you could conceivably earn 5,000 bonus points on $50 you might spend anyway.
Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion [old]
Here are the promotion terms for Hyatt’s current Bonus Journeys promotion which ends February 28:
- Earn triple points for your spending at Hyatt hotels after your first qualifying stay
- All elite nights are doubled through Feb. 28, 2021
- Registration ended Jan. 15, 2021
- Your stay must be completed by Feb. 28, 2021
Good deal or not?
The ability to earn double elite night credits through Feb. 2021 makes for some really exciting possibilities when combined with the news of Hyatt slashing elite status requirements. More on that in the next section.
With this deal, you’ll earn triple points for your spending at any hotel under the Hyatt brand. Hyatt normally offers 5 points per dollar, so you’ll earn at least 15 points per dollar for your stays during the promotion.
Note that you’ll only earn triple points on the base points you earn. For example, the World of Hyatt Credit Card gives you a return of 4 points per dollar when spending at Hyatt hotels. Bonus Journeys won’t multiply this number to 12 points per dollar. If you’re spending with that card, you’ll earn a total of 19 points per dollar — not to mention any bonuses you’d receive from elite status.
You’ll also only earn triple points after your second qualifying stay. You’ll need to book directly with Hyatt and not through an OTA like Expedia to qualify. It may make sense to break your first trip up into multiple bookings, which could trigger the bonus points on your second booking.
If you’re not sure you’re ready to travel yet, factor in Hyatt’s updated generous cancellation policies, as well as their cleaning and safety protocols.
We estimate Hyatt points value to be around 1.5 cents each, so earning 15 points per dollar equates to a 22.5% return — which is fantastic.
Elite status requirements cut in half, earn Globalist status with just 15 nights
Hyatt has arguably the best top-tier hotel elite status out of any chain, and Hyatt Globalist status will be much easier to earn in 2021.
Earning Hyatt elite status would normally require:
- 10 nights for Hyatt Discoverist status
- 30 nights for Hyatt Explorist status
- 60 nights for Hyatt Globalist status
With this new requirement for 2021, you’ll only need:
- 5 nights for Hyatt Discoverist status
- 15 nights for Hyatt Explorist status
- 30 nights for Hyatt Globalist status
That’s unbelievable. And when you combine this with the previous promotion of double elite nights, the deal becomes impossible to beat. As long as you book at least 15 nights with a checkout date between January 1 and February 28, 2021, you will earn the best hotel elite status in the game.
For example, I had a four-night Hyatt stay scheduled in early Feb. 2021. From that stay, I’ll receive 12 elite night credits. That will nearly give me Hyatt Globalist status! I also have the World of Hyatt Credit Card, which comes with five elite night credits each year. In other words, if I can find a cheap Hyatt hotel and book another seven nights, I’ll get Hyatt Globalist through February 2023!
Hyatt Globalist comes with perks like:
- Free suite upgrades when available
- Free breakfast at Hyatt hotels
- Free parking when booking award nights
- 30% bonus points
- Resort fees waived on paid stays
Note that you’ll still have to achieve milestone rewards as you normally would — though these are twice as easy to earn, thanks to the double elite nights promotion. For example, you’ll earn two suite night awards after staying 25 nights (you’ll get this after earning 50 elite night credits).
This promotion is surely mattress run worthy if you think you’ll stay at a Hyatt a few times over the next two years. Read our guide on how to find the cheapest hotels for your mattress run.

Award nights on sale plus free parking
This promotion is a stunner. Here are the details:
- Registration ended Jan. 15, 2021
- Rebate will be triggered when you spend your points for free night awards, Points + Cash rates, room upgrades, dining and spa services, Exhale classes, and spa therapies
- Travel must be completed by Feb. 28, 2021
- You will automatically receive your rebate within eight weeks
If you’ve got the World of Hyatt Credit Card or a legacy Hyatt credit card, you’ll receive a 25% rebate on award stays (15% for non-Hyatt cardholders). That is stunningly good. It makes top-notch hotels like the Park Hyatt Paris Vendome or the Park Hyatt Sydney effectively 22,500 points per night instead of 30,000. These hotels can easily cost $800+ per night. They were already a steal with points, and this promotion makes it even better.
To boot, your free nights will now come with free parking through Feb. 28, 2021 — and those with Globalist Hyatt status will also get free parking on eligible paid stays, too. This could save you $40+ per day, depending on the property you’ve booked.
Hyatt credit card deals
There is only one Hyatt credit card, the World of Hyatt Credit Card, and it comes with many worthwhile perks, not the least of which is a welcome bonus of up to 60,000 bonus points:
- 30,000 Bonus Points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening.
- Up to 30,000 more bonus points by earning 2 bonus points total per dollar spend on purchases that normally earn 1 Bonus Point, on up to $15,000 spent in the first six months of account opening.
The card also comes with great ongoing benefits, such as:
- Free night (category 1-4) on each account anniversary
- Automatic Discoverist elite status
- You’ll earn two elite night credits for every $5,000 spent
- Great travel perks such as rental car insurance, trip cancellation reimbursement, lost luggage or bag delayed reimbursement and travel accident insurance
- Purchase protection if your item is stolen or damaged within 120 days of purchase
- Extended warranties on purchases
- Roadside dispatch
The card has a $95 annual fee. My husband has this card and keeps it simply for the annual free night certificate at up to Category 4 Hyatt hotels, because we always manage to redeem the certificate for a room that costs significantly more than $95.
How to earn Hyatt Points
Apart from the World of Hyatt Credit Card, there are a few other ways to get Hyatt points – namely, with Chase Ultimate Rewards earning credit cards:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
- Chase Sapphire Reserve®
- Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card
You can transfer Chase points to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio. So by earning any of the above card bonuses, you’ve essentially earned the same number of Hyatt points!
You’ll also earn Hyatt points on paid stays at Hyatt properties and through other partnerships that the hotel chain has with American Airlines, Avis and Exhale Spa and Fitness and more.
How to maximize Hyatt promotions
Make sure you use a Hyatt co-brand credit card or a rewards credit card that earns bonus points on travel purchases, like hotel stays and flights.
How to find more Hyatt deals and promotions
You can opt into Hyatt promotional emails which will alert you when Hyatt updates or adds promotions. Also, subscribe to our newsletter and we’ll let you know when great offers pop up.
