Hyatt hotels are a favorite of many of us on the MMS team and lots of readers, too. And it’s no wonder, Hyatt is one of the best loyalty programs for booking luxury hotel stays with points. Plus, Hyatt points are easy to earn with some of the top travel credit cards or hotel credit cards.
But before you start earning Hyatt points, the first step is to sign up for a Hyatt loyalty account. Luckily, it’s free and easy. Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating a Hyatt account. If you want to stay on top of miles & points tips, subscribe to our newsletter.
How to create a Hyatt account
Step 1. Go to the Hyatt homepage
On Hyatt’s website, click “Sign In” at the upper right-hand corner of the homepage.
A dropdown will appear and you’ll have the option to either sign in or create a new account. Click the “Join” button to register for a new loyalty account.
Step 2. Complete the registration form
From there you’ll need to complete Hyatt’s registration form. It’s really straightforward – you’ll just be asked to provide basic information like your name, address, and email and you’ll be required to set up a password.
Make sure you enter your information correctly because you won’t have a chance to review it prior to confirming your account.
After completing the form click the “Join Now” button to finish your registration.
Step 3. Confirmation
Lastly, you’ll get confirmation of your account along with your member number. You’ll also get an email with your registration information. That’s it, you’re ready to start earning and burning those rewards.
Want to earn more Hyatt points?
What makes Hyatt points so valuable is Hyatt’s award chart, with prices from 5,000-40,000 points per night. That means even the top-tier locations that cost $800 or more a night only cost at most, 40,000 points. That’s half of what other chains like Marriott or Hilton might charge. However, starting in March 2020 Hyatt is introducing peak and off-peak pricing. This will expand the price range to 3,500-45,000, which could be good or bad for you, but overall it is a relatively minor change.
A great way to collect Hyatt points is by opening the World of Hyatt Credit Card, which has a bonus of up to 60,000 Hyatt points after meeting tiered minimum spending requirements:
- 30,000 Bonus Points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening.
- Up to 30,000 more Bonus Points by earning 2 Bonus Points total per $1 spend on purchases that normally earn 1 Bonus Point, on up to $15,000 in the first six months of account opening.
If you unlock the full bonus, you’ll have enough Hyatt points for two nights at a category 6 Hyatt resort like the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa. Be sure to read our full review of the World of Hyatt credit card here.
