Here are all the ways to earn Hyatt points.
You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Plus, or (no longer offered) Chase Ink Bold cards.
If you have the Chase Freedom or Chase Ink Cash cards, you can combine your points and transfer them to Hyatt as long as you have 1 of the other cards!
Chase Freedom has rotating 5X points categories in popular categories like home improvement stores, gas, and dining out. And through December 31, 2015, you can earn up to 15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points on your shopping at Amazon (great for gifts this holiday season!).

5 Terrific Hyatt Hotels in Central and South America for Award Stays
Hyatt hotels include Andaz, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt, Hyatt Centric, Hyatt Place, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Resorts, Hyatt House, and Park Hyatt brand hotels.I like using Hotel Hustle to find hotels because it shows you how many points you’ll need for your specific travel dates, and if award nights are available!

Note: The prices in these examples are based on travel in April 2016. 1. Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro
The Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro is set to open in March 2016, and it already looks like a gorgeous hotel! Rio is filled with culture (and great food!) so I’m excited about having more options here!
Rooms are available to book for ~$263 after taxes per night, or they’ll cost 15,000 Hyatt points because this will be a Category 4 hotel.
So you can get 3 nights with the Chase Sapphire Preferred bonus and have 5,000 points left over, which is enough for an award night at a Hyatt Category 1 hotel!
But here’s how you can get four! If you sign-up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, you’ll have at least 54,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after completing the $4,000 minimum spending requirement.
And you can add an authorized user to earn 5,000 more Chase Ultimate Rewards points, for a total of 59,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which is most of the way toward 4 award nights. (Remember you also get 2X points per $1 spent on travel and dining.)
You could save ~$1,052 on your 4-night stay in the Marvelous City!
2. Palacio Duhau – Park Hyatt Buenos Aires
The Palacio Duhau – Park Hyatt Buenos Aires is 1 of Hyatt’s most well-known luxury hotels. In fact, folks on TripAdvisor gave it nearly all 5-star ratings!
The hotel is a converted palace from the 1930s that used to belong to an affluent Argentinian family, so you really can live like a king or queen here!
The location is amazing, too. You’ll be walking distance to museums, art galleries, and cafes. Make sure you rest up during the day because many Argentinians eat dinner late at night, and then stay out dancing until the early morning hours!
When I checked, nights here cost ~$653, or 20,000 Hyatt points per night. So the sign-up bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred is worth over $1,300 for 2 nights here – and you’ll have 10,000 points left!
3. Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort
If you love nature, hiking, or eco-tourism, consider the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica. You’ll be surrounded by mountains and beaches filled with wildlife in nearby national parks like Rincon de La Vieja and Palo Verde. Perfect for an adventure!
Nights here cost ~$622 or 15,000 Hyatt points per night.
Remember you’ll earn 54,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after you complete the minimum spending and another 5,000 points for adding an authorized user. 59,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points is most of way toward 4 nights here, which is worth ~$2,488 – a truly incredible deal!
And because this is a Category 4 hotel, you can use the annual free night certificate from your Chase Hyatt card here.
Considering the annual fee on the card is $75, and nights here can cost well over $600, that’s a fantastic deal!
4. Park Hyatt Mendoza
If you like to ski or explore vineyards, the 5-star Park Hyatt Mendoza is unbeatable. It’s located in 1 of the most important wine-producing regions in Latin America, and is ~90 minutes from several ski resorts in the Andes Mountains.
Rates here are ~$349 after taxes or 8,000 Hyatt points per night. Folks have great things to say about the service and location.
With the 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points you’ll earn from the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, you could spend 6 nights here, worth ~$2,094!
Or, you could save them for another Hyatt hotel in Central and South America for an extended stay! British Airways Avios points are perfect for flying around South America and British Airways is also a Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partner.

5. Carmelo Resort & Spa, A Hyatt Hotel
If you want to get off the beaten path, consider the Carmelo Resort & Spa, A Hyatt Hotel in Uruguay. It’s in a unique location at the base of the Rio de la Plata, with access to beaches, quiet coastal towns, a golf course, and lots of nature.
You can even take a ~1 hour ferry ride to Buenos Aires if you want to visit more of South America!
Nights here are ~$317 or 20,000 Hyatt points per night.
