80,000 Marriott Points Is Enough for Several Nights at Lower Category Marriott Hotels. Or 1 or 2 Nights at the Nicest Marriotts!

I like using Hotel Hustle to find hotels for award stays because it shows you how many points you’ll need for your specific travel dates.  And show you if award nights are available at hotels, including Marriott!

Another option is AwardMapper.  It shows similar information.  But it’s not specific to travel dates and won’t search for available award rooms.

I haven’t personally stayed at these hotels, but they look amazing!

Note:  The prices in these examples are based on travel in April 2016, except where noted. Note:   Some Marriott hotels (especially resorts) add pricey resort fees to paid and award nights.  Before you book, check the hotel policy to decide if it’s worth it for you.  And here are my tips on how to avoid them! Marriott hotels include: Note:   There are rumors that starting April 2016, Chase will make it tougher to be approved for ANY of their cards (including airline & hotel cards) if you’ve opened ~5+ credit card accounts with any bank within the past 24 months.

So I recommend folks 1st sign-up for the Chase Sapphire PreferredHere’s why.  But if you already have the Chase Sapphire Preferred or don’t want it, consider this offer for the Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card.  Or the other Chase cards in Hot Deals.

1.   JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu

The 5-star JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu is located in bustling Mumbai, along the Arabian Sea.  And there’s so much to do once you get here!

We had a great time seeing the sights, eating, and shopping in Mumbai.  And we visited the northern Indian city of Jaipur to shop, try new food, and explore more of the country.

Folks on TripAdvisor love the location of this stylish hotel.  And all the dining options!

When you earn 80,000 Marriott points with the Chase Marriott Premier card, you’ll have 20,000+ Marriott points left over.  That’s enough for a night at a Marriott Category 4 hotel.  Or 2 award nights at a Category 2 hotel!  So your points can be worth a lot more, depending on how you redeem them.

2.   Goa Marriott Resort & Spa

Another 5-star hotel in India is the Goa Marriott Resort & Spa further down the coast in Goa, a popular tourist destination.  It’s known for its huge selection of beautiful beaches.

Emily and I visited Goa and sampled the local food.  I enjoyed the fish curries and other yummy seafood dishes.

You can also head to nearby Ocean Park for carnival-style rides and a zoo.  It could make a great day trip if you bring the little ones along.

Emily and I enjoyed shopping in Hong Kong’s busy street markets, which is a must-do during your visit!

Nights here cost ~$565 or 45,000 Marriott points per night.  So you can stay for 2 nights in Hong Kong and save $1,130 when you redeem 90,000 Marriott points.

Here are some ideas of things to do in Seoul, including National Parks, tours, museums, and interesting neighborhoods to visit.

5.   Tokyo Marriott Hotel

The Tokyo Marriott Hotel is located in Tokyo’s historic Gotenyama district, on a main train line that connects it with other parts of the city – and beyond, to the rest of Japan.  So it’s a fantastic base for a 1st-time (or repeat!) visit to Tokyo.

The 80,000 Marriott Point Sign-Up Bonus You’ll Earn With the Chase Marriott Premier Card Is Worth Nearly $800 Toward a 2-Night Stay at the Tokyo Marriott Hotel

The hotel is right next to Gotenyama Garden, a traditional Japanese-style garden where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

And in the nearby area, you’ll find numerous temples and shrines if you love to learn about history.  And of course Tokyo also has delicious sushi, world-class shopping, and tons of cultural and artistic attractions.

Nights at this hotel cost ~$381 or 40,000 Marriott points.

So depending on when you stay, the 80,000 Marriott points you’ll earn with the Chase Marriott Premier card welcome bonus are good for 2 award nights worth ~$762!

And remember, you’ll earn at least 3,000 Marriott points from meeting the minimum spending requirement.  And 7,500 bonus Marriott points when you add an authorized user who makes a purchase within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.  That should help you get part of the way toward another award night in Tokyo – or at Marriott hotels world-wide!

You can also get the Chase Ritz-Carlton Rewards card.  You’ll earn 2 free nights at any Tier 1 to 4 Ritz-Carlton hotel, after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the 1st 3 months of opening your account.

Marriott and Ritz-Carlton are essentially the same frequent-guest program (just with different branding and marketing), so you can use your Marriott points to stay at Ritz-Carlton hotels and vice versa.

The $395 annual fee is NOT waived, but it comes with perks and benefits that can easily offset it, like a $300 annual travel credit (which includes reimbursed Global Entry fees, checked luggage, and seat upgrades).

If you like Ritz-Carlton hotels, it’s a great card to have.  Here’s my review.

Bottom Line

You’ll earn 80,000 Marriott points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of opening the Chase Marriott Premier card.

Plus, earn another 7,500 bonus Marriott points when you add an authorized user who makes a purchase within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.
