Other perks that come with this card include:

The $85 annual fee is NOT waived for the 1st year.

Marriott hotels include:

So 80,000 + 7,500 Marriott points is enough for 11 nights at Marriott Category 1 hotels like the TownePlace Suites Charlotte University Research Park.

Stretch Your 80,000 + 7,500 Marriott Points With 11 Nights at the TownPlace Suites Charlotte University Research Park, Which Can Cost ~$150 per Night!

Or you could book 3 nights at a Category 5 hotel such as Castle Hotel, Autograph Collection.

Live Like a Princess at the Castle Hotel, Just Minutes From Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando

You can also use Marriott points to stay at Ritz-Carlton hotels.  So you could treat yourself to luxurious getaway at the top-tier Ritz-Carlton Tokyo.

80,000 Marriott Points Is More Than Enough for 1 Night at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo! A Stay Here Could Otherwise Cost ~$1,050 per Night!
Note:   There are rumors that starting April 2016, Chase will make it tougher to be approved for ANY of their cards (including airline & hotel cards) if you’ve opened ~5+ credit card accounts with any bank within the past 24 months.

So I recommend folks 1st sign-up for the Chase Sapphire PreferredHere’s why.  But if you already have the Chase Sapphire Preferred or don’t want it, consider this offer for the Chase Marriott Premier.  Or the other Chase cards in Hot Deals.

For 80,000 Marriott Points You Can Stay 2 Nights at the JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa Where You’ll Enjoy 360 Degree Views of Venice and an Entry Fit for an International Spy
Note:   If you’ve already held this card, the terms and conditions say you can earn the bonus again as long as you have not received the bonus in the past 24 months.

Once you complete the minimum spending on your new card, the bonus points should post your account after your statement closes.  Unless you finish the required spending in the last ~7 to 10 days of the statement period, then you’ll have to wait until the following statement closes.

Keep in mind, Marriott points expire after 24 months of account inactivity.  So it’s a good idea to know your travel plans and goals before signing-up for either offer..

Need More Marriott Points?

Folks with a small business are eligible for the Chase Marriott Rewards Business card.

And anyone with a Chase Sapphire PreferredInk Plus, or Ink Bold (no longer available) card can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Marriott.

When You Have Cards Like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, You Can Transfer Your Chase Ultimate Rewards Points Directly to Airline and Hotel Partners Including Marriott

That’s because, for hotels, I generally prefer to transfer my Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt.  I like the Hyatt award chart, along with the brand, customer service, and attention to detail.

Hyatt award nights usually cost less than Marriott for a similar class of hotel.  And because Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer 1:1 to both hotel chains, I find Hyatt to be a better deal for the hotels I like.

Bottom Line

You can earn 80,000 Marriott points when you sign-up for the Chase Marriott Premier Rewards card and complete the minimum spending.  That’s enough for a 2 night stay at Category 8 Marriott hotels or a night top-tier Ritz-Carlton hotels.

Plus, you’ll earn 7,500 bonus Marriott points (worth 1 night at a Marriott Category 1 hotel) when you add an authorized user who makes a purchase within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.

You’ll also get 1 night at a Marriott Category 1 to 5 hotel each year on your card anniversary.  The annual fee is NOT waived the 1st year.

Where would you spend 80,000 Marriott points?
