The United℠ Explorer Card is back out with a new offer. Through Sept. 30, 2020, you can earn 60,000 United Airlines miles after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months. That’s 20,000 miles more than the most recent offer. And while this bonus is a bit less than other increased offers, the spending requirement is only a fraction of what it used to be, which makes this one of the top airline credit card offers.

This bonus is worth at least two round-trip flights within the U.S. or even a round-trip coach flight to Europe.

Chase United Airlines Explorer current offer

The most recent increased offer on the Chase United Explorer card required you to spend $10,000 within the first six months to earn the full 65,000-mile bonus. The current offer has a spending requirement of less than one third that, and even though it needs to be fully completed in the first three months, it’s a better offer for most. Instead of putting that extra $7,000 in spending toward earning an additional 5,000 bonus miles, you could put it toward earning one or two travel credit card bonuses worth $500-$1000 each.

On average, you can get 1.3 cents per mile in value from United miles, so this 60,000-mile bonus could be worth $780 or even more if you’re booking a flight in business or first class. And it’s not hard to accumulate the miles you need for these redemptions because you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to United at a 1:1 ratio. For inspiration on how to get great value from this bonus, check out the best use of United miles — for instance, you could fly United’s Polaris business class to Europe for just 60,000 miles!

After you meet the minimum spending requirement, you’ll have at least 63,000 miles. Additionally, with the card you will earn 2x United Airlines miles on purchases from United Airlines and at restaurants and hotels (when you book directly); all other purchases earn one mile per dollar. And when you pay for your ticket with your card you and a companion will get your first checked bag for free. If you don’t need unlimited airport lounge access, this card is perfect because it comes with two one-time United Club lounge passes per card-membership year.

The card’s $95 annual fee is waived the first year. That’s a great deal when you add in the fact that the card comes with a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit worth up to $100. Also, one of the unsung benefits of having a United Airlines credit card is that you’ll get access to an increased number of award seats.

This is a Chase credit card, so you won’t be approved for this card if you’ve opened five or more cards from any bank (not counting Chase business cards and certain other business cards) in the past 24 months.

I’ve had the Chase United Explorer card for years because it gives me access to more award seats on United. Honestly, it’s one of my favorite all-around rewards credit cards, because of the various benefits it possesses.
