Uber Adds In-App Tipping

As of yesterday, June 20, 2017, Uber riders in Seattle, Minneapolis, and Houston now have the ability to leave their driver a tip through Uber’s app. And Uber plans to roll out this feature nationwide by the end of July 2017.
In the past, Uber claimed to want to keep their service tip-free, so this option wasn’t available. But riders often tipped their drivers in cash anyway.
Whether this new feature is a positive or negative change is up for debate. But for folks who want to tip, it certainly makes it more convenient.
That said, Million Mile Secrets team members Jasmin and Harlan usually use Lyft instead, because they’ve had better experiences with them.
Harlan especially likes in-app tipping, because it’s good for the drivers!
Lyft has always allowed in-app tipping, and according to the Lyft drivers our team members have spoken too, they treat and pay their drivers better.
