The global alliance that contains airlines like Delta, Air France, and Korean Air, has added another name to their list of partners.  And it’s one you’d never guess!

Hertz became a member of SkyTeam on October 16, 2018.  That gives folks who fly SkyTeam airlines an opportunity to earn miles even when they’re not in the air.  And hopefully it ends up being another great way to save on rental cars!

What Are the Reciprocal Benefits Between Hertz and SkyTeam Airlines?  It’s Still Not Clear

The Hertz press release states that SkyTeam members will get a special code for their Hertz bookings.  We don’t yet know what kind of improved benefits will come with this partnership.  Hertz already partners with tons of airlines, so we’ll have to wait for Hertz to flesh out the details.  Until we know, it’s hard to be excited.

This is an interesting move for Hertz, as we’ve seen several incredible promotions from them in the past with Star Alliance.  For example, you could once earn up to 5,250 bonus United Airlines miles per rental.  And 5,000 SAS miles per rental.

Now that Hertz has pledged allegiance to SkyTeam, it’s possible we won’t see great deals like these available for non-SkyTeam airlines anymore.  Hopefully they won’t disappear altogether!

What are your thoughts on this new partnership between Hertz and SkyTeam?
