Is This a Good Deal?
No. I would absolutely NOT switch my hotel stays to a Tru hotel for this promotion.
You can usually get ~0.5 cents in value per Hilton point when redeeming them for hotel stays. So 1,000 bonus Hilton points per night is equivalent to ~$5. Though it’s possible to get more value (or less!) from Hilton points.
For example, the Waldorf Astoria Orlando costs $227 per night, but costs 52,000 Hilton points for a free night. That means you’ll get a value of 0.43 cents per point ($227 cost of room / 52,000 Hilton points) if you redeem your points at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando.
But the brand new Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills sells rooms for $674. And you can redeem 95,000 Hilton points for a free night, giving you a value of ~0.71 cents per point ($674 cost of room / 95,000 Hilton points).
And while the 1,000 bonus points are in addition to the points you’ll earn for your stay, you’ll only earn 5 base Hilton points per $1 you spend (instead of 10 Hilton points per $1 at most other hotel brands). So that makes this promotion from Tru hotels even less enticing.
There are other current promotions from Starwood and Marriott, Choice, IHG, and Best Western that are more valuable. That said, if you’re planning to stay at a Tru hotel anyway, you should definitely register for this promotion. Every point counts, after all!
Bottom Line
If you have an upcoming Tru hotel stay planned, you should register for this promotion and earn 1,000 bonus Hilton points per stay! However, this is NOT a promotion that’s worth switching your hotel stays from another hotel chain.
