Via View From the Wing, Accor Hotels is in the final stages of an agreement to buy Fairmont Hotels.

We’ve seen a lot of hotel mergers recently, including when IHG bought Kimpton Hotels, and the upcoming takeover of Starwood by Marriott.

What’s Happening?

Accor Hotels is buying the parent company of Fairmont Hotels.  This also includes the Raffles and Swissotel brands.

At this time, we do NOT know what will happen to the Fairmont points program after the merger is complete.  It may be combined with Accor points under 1 program.  Or they could be kept separate, like IHG and Kimpton’s loyalty programs.

If You Want to Get the Chase Fairmont Card, Now’s a Great Time. But I Wouldn’t Rush to Redeem Your Fairmont Points Because of This News, Unless You Want a Free Night at a Fairmont Hotel Like the Beautiful Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Canada

And there’s no information about what will happen to the Chase Fairmont card, which comes with 2 complimentary nights at Fairmont Hotels after you spend $3,000 on purchases within 1st 3 months of account opening.

So if you’ve had your eye on the card, now is a good time to apply and enjoy the card’s benefits.  Because this card will likely be discontinued based on what we’ve seen before.

Emily and I don’t receive a commission for the Fairmont card but we’ll always tell you about the best deals.  And I consider this 1 of the Top 10 Easiest Awards to book!

I wouldn’t worry about redeeming your points or free night certificates in a hurry if you don’t have an upcoming trip planned.

It’s very unlikely Fairmont would change their points program without plenty of advance notice to customers.  And your points and certificates should be honored until any changes happen.

I do NOT have additional information about this.  And I haven’t written a lot about Le Club, Accor Hotels’ loyalty program.

But I’ll keep you posted and will let you know as soon as I find out more!
