Via Travel Is Free, you can earn 50,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles after completing minimum spending requirements on the Barclaycard Hawaiian Airlines card.
That’s enough for a round-trip coach award flight to Hawaii from North America. And it’s better than the usual sign-up bonus.
In the past, you’d have to make a test booking on the Hawaiian Airlines website to find this offer. But now there’s a direct link.

The normal sign-up bonus for the Barclaycard Hawaiian Airlines card is 35,000 miles after meeting minimum spending requirements. And I’ve written about how to unlock an even better bonus by making a test booking on Hawaiian Airlines’ site.
But now, you can earn 50,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles when you spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 90 days of opening your account, without the hassle of making a test booking!
With this deal, you’ll also get:
- Free first checked bag (for the primary cardholder only, and only if you use your card and buy tickets from Hawaiian Airlines directly)
- One-time 50% discount on a companion ticket between Hawaii and North America
- Discounts on award tickets
- No foreign transaction fees
The $89 annual fee is NOT waived the first year.
What Can You Do With Hawaiian Airlines Miles?

A one-way ticket from the mainland US to Hawaii costs:
- 20,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles in coach
- 40,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles in First Class
And one-way inter-island flights, like between Honolulu and Kauai, cost 7,500 Hawaiian Airlines miles in coach, or 15,000 miles in First Class.
Just remember, the flights between islands are so short, it’s usually NOT worth booking a First Class ticket. 😉
And Hawaiian Airlines doesn’t add fuel surcharges. So you’ll just pay ~$6 in taxes and fees each way.
You can also use Hawaiian Airlines miles to fly on partner airlines, like JetBlue and Virgin Atlantic. This can be a great deal, because Hawaiian Airlines does not add fuel surcharges to flights on partner airlines either!
Is It Worth Applying?
The usual sign-up bonus is 35,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles. And this is the highest sign-up bonus I’ve seen for this card.
But most folks can do better with other cards, especially if you’re new to miles and points. And I recommend folks starting in our hobby apply for Chase cards first because of their stricter application rules.
But it could be worth it if you want to visit Hawaii. Or if you collect Hawaiian Airlines miles.
Bottom Line
The Barclaycard Hawaiian Airlines card has an increased sign-up bonus of 50,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles after completing the minimum spending requirements. Previously, you had to do a test booking to find this offer, but now there’s a direct link.
50,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles is more than enough for a round-trip award flight to Hawaii from North America. So this could be worth it if you’re planning a trip there. But beginners to miles & points can do better with other cards.
We don’t earn a commission on this card, but we’ll always tell you about the best deals!
