Update: One or more card offers in this post are no longer available. Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.
AMEX just launched 2 brand new Amazon small business credit cards. Both earn cash back in certain bonus categories, and have Amazon gift cards as welcome offers.
But if you want to earn cash rewards, there are much better small business credit cards with bigger intro bonuses. And considering AMEX only lets you have 4 or 5 credit cards, these aren’t worth taking up a slot.
I’ll share the details, and alternatives to consider!
AMEX Introduces 2 New Amazon Credit Cards for Small Businesses, but They’re Nothing Special
Apply Here: Amazon Business American Express Cards
Earlier this week, Amazon and AMEX unveiled 2 new credit cards aimed at small business owners. Essentially, it’s the same card with 2 versions: One for Prime members, the other for non-Prime members.
If you have an Amazon Prime subscription, you’ll get:
- $125 Amazon gift card upon approval
- 5% cash back or 90 days interest-free on purchases at Amazon Business, Amazon Web Services, Amazon.com, and Whole Foods Market
- 2% cash back at US restaurants, US gas stations, and on wireless telephone services purchased directly from US service providers
- Terms apply
The information for the Amazon Business American Express Cards has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
If you don’t have Amazon Prime, you’ll get:
- $100 Amazon gift card upon approval
- 3% cash back or 60 days interest-free on purchases at Amazon Business, Amazon Web Services, Amazon.com, and Whole Foods Market
- 2% cash back at US restaurants, US gas stations, and on wireless telephone services purchased directly from US service providers
- %% Terms apply?
Both cards have a $0 annual fee.
The fact that you have to choose between cash back and 0% interest for 90 or 60 days (depending which card you get) is crazy considering there are cards out there with 0% APR periods of over a year. I’d much rather have the cash back if I applied for one of these cards.
Not only that, but welcome bonuses of $125 or $100 in the form of Amazon gift cards is nothing to write home about. Overall, these cards have low welcome offers and uninspired bonus categories.
Plus, there are already other Amazon cards from Synchrony and Chase that earn 5% cash back at Amazon. But personally, I wouldn’t waste a hard credit pull to open any of these cards.

If you’re a small business owner looking for a credit card with a stellar bonus deal, look no further than the Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card. The intro bonus is 80,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening (worth $1,000 toward travel when redeemed through Chase Ultimate Rewards), which blows the AMEX Amazon small business cards out of the water. It has a $95 annual fee, but strong bonus categories make it worthwhile. Here’s our full review of the Chase Ink Business Preferred.
If you don’t want to pay an annual fee, consider the Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card or Ink Business Unlimited℠ Credit Card, which both have welcome offers of $500 cash back (50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points) after spending $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of opening your account. That’s 4X or 5X more than the bonus on the Amazon cards! Of course we have a side-by-side comparison of the Chase Ink cards to help you pick which is best for your small business!
For ongoing cash rewards without an annual fee, you could consider the Capital One® Spark® Cash Select for Business, which earns 1.5% cash back on every purchase – so there are no bonus categories to think about. And the welcome bonus is $200 after you spend $3,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening.
Finally, there’s the no-annual-fee The Blue Business®️ Plus Credit Card from American Express card (See Rates & Fees), which earns earns 2 AMEX Membership Rewards points spent on all purchases, on up to $50,000 spent each calendar year (then 1x thereafter). There’s no welcome offer, but also no bonus categories to think about. If you want simplicity, it’s hard to beat this one!
And if none of these strike your fancy, here’s our full line-up of the best cards for Amazon shopping.
Bottom Line
Most of our team agrees the new AMEX Amazon small business cards aren’t worth a spot in our wallets. The welcome offers aren’t much, and while earning 5% cash back at Amazon is great (if you have an Amazon Prime membership), we like other cards for better bonuses and rewards for ongoing small business spending.
I’d recommend the Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card if you want an eye-popping welcome offer worth $1,000 toward travel after meeting minimum spending requirements, and the Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card or Ink Business Unlimited℠ Credit Card for $500 intro bonuses after meeting minimum spend and no annual fees.
