Folks who do lots of holiday shopping at Amazon might like the improved offers for the AMEX Blue Cash Everyday and AMEX Blue Cash Preferred cards!
You can now earn up to $300 back with the AMEX Blue Cash Everyday card and $350 back with the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred card after meeting minimum spending requirements.
But to earn the full bonus on either card, part of the spending requirement must be $2,000 in Amazon purchases within the first 6 months of opening your account.
I’ll share more about these new offers and help you decide whether you should sign-up!
AMEX Blue Cash Everyday

The AMEX Blue Cash Everyday card is offering a $100 statement credit after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening. This is the same as the standard offer.
But now, you can earn up to an additional $200 back by getting 10% back on the first $2,000 in Amazon purchases made with your card in the first 6 months of account opening. For a total of up to $300 back ($100 + $200).
This card has no annual fee. But it isn’t a good card to use abroad because it adds foreign transaction fees.
- 3% cash back at US supermarkets (up to $6,000 per year, then 1%)
- 2% cash back at US gas stations and select US department stores
- 1% cash back on everything else
- NO annual fee
- Terms and restrictions apply
AMEX Blue Cash Preferred

The AMEX Blue Cash Preferred card has a similar deal, but you’ll earn a slightly higher sign-up bonus of $150 back after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.
The bonus for Amazon purchases is the same. You can earn up to $200 back by getting 10% back on the first $2,000 in Amazon purchases made on the card in the first 6 months of opening your account. For a total bonus of up to $350 ($150 + $200) in statement credits.
- 6% cash back at US supermarkets (up to $6,000 per year, then 1%)
- 3% cash back at US gas stations and select US department stores
- 1% cash back on everything else
- Terms and restrictions apply
The $95 annual fee is NOT waived the first year and the card adds foreign transaction fees.
Should You Apply?
It depends. These cards could be good for folks who will spend a lot on Amazon purchases to earn the additional bonus. And the bonus on supermarket spending can also help folks earn ongoing rewards!
And because these are AMEX cards, you’ll be eligible for discounts through AMEX Offers.
But if you’re just starting out, it’s better to apply for Chase cards first. Because with Chase’s tougher approval rules, if you’ve opened more than ~5 credit cards (excluding these business cards) within the past 24 months from ANY bank, it’s likely you will NOT be approved for most Chase cards.
And Chase has fantastic miles & points cards, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve and upcoming Chase Ink Preferred.
Bottom Line
For folks who spend a lot on Amazon purchases, there are better offers for the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred and Blue Cash Everyday cards.
You can earn up to $350 back with the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred and up to $300 back with AMEX Blue Cash Everyday card.
But to earn the full bonus, you’ll have to meet the minimum spending requirements AND spend $2,000 on Amazon purchases within the first 6 months of account opening.
Don’t forget, American Express limits folks to one sign-up bonus per lifetime, per card. So if you’ve had either of these cards before, you can’t earn the bonus again.
But keep in mind, there are plenty of other cards with higher sign-up bonuses!
