Reader Question:  “Am I Eligible to Earn the Welcome Bonus on Any of the AMEX Delta Cards If I’ve Had an AMEX Delta Card Before?”

    We’ve been getting a number of questions about the best-ever offers on the AMEX Delta cards (that end April 11, 2018!).  Because you can get lots of Big Travel with Small Money with the increased welcome bonuses!

    Although many of y’all are interested in these deals, whether or not you’re eligible to receive these bonuses is another matter.  Because each bank has different rules and restrictions when it comes to their credit cards.

    Figuring Out Whether or Not You’re Eligible for a Welcome Bonus Is One of the First Steps in Determining Which Cards to Apply for Next

    Million Mile Secrets reader Susie asked:

    A long time ago, I had a Delta card and received the welcome bonus.  Does that make me ineligible for the bonus now?

    Earning the Welcome Bonus From the Best-Ever AMEX Delta Card Offers

    The short answer to Susie’s question is yes, she is ineligible to earn the bonus on whichever Delta card she had in the past.  Because AMEX only allows folks to earn the welcome bonus ONCE per person, per lifetime, on ALL their cards.

    So, for example, if she earned the welcome bonus on the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card, she would NOT be able to earn a bonus on that card again.

    Determining exactly which AMEX Delta card she had in the past is as easy as calling American Express customer service at 800-528-4800 to ask.

    That said, the good news is the AMEX Delta cards are considered different products.  So even if you’ve had one version of the card, you can still get the others! 

    Once Susie determines which AMEX Delta card she had in the past, she can decide which to apply for now.  And she’ll be on her way to earning even more Delta miles. 🙂
