Planning a trip to Las Vegas?

You can use Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, or Starwood points to book award nights at hotels throughout the city.

And depending on your preference, you can use points to stay at casino hotels.  Or stay a short distance away from the Las Vegas Strip in a more quiet location.

Use Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, or Starwood Points to Book Your Hotel Stay in Vegas!

I’ll show you 4 exciting Las Vegas hotels where you can stay using Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, and Starwood points!

You can redeem Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, or Starwood points for award nights at all 3 hotel chains.  Keep in mind, there are no Ritz-Carlton hotels in Las Vegas.  But you can use Ritz-Carlton points to book award stays with Marriott or Starwood.

If you collect Starwood points, you can transfer points instantly to your Marriott account at a 1:3 ratio.  And vice versa.

Many hotels in Las Vegas charge resort fees.  You’ll usually pay this fee whether you use points or pay cash.

So be sure to check before booking so there are no surprises when you check-in!

1.   The Cosmopolitan

The Cosmopolitan is a resort hotel and casino located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip.  It’s an Autograph Collection hotel, which is part of Marriott.

When you stay here, you’ll be walking distance to popular Vegas attractions like:

Day or night you can have some fun at Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub where popular DJs perform.

Afterwards, relax at the Sahra Spa & Hammam.

Enjoy Iconic Views of Las Vegas When You Stay at The Cosmopolitan

This hotel ranks highly on TripAdvisor.  Folks love the views of Las Vegas from the guest rooms.  And there’s plenty to do, including shopping, spa treatments, and partying by the pool.

You’ll pay 45,000 Marriott points for an award night.  Or you can convert 15,000 Starwood points.  This is a terrific deal because room rates can be $500+!

You can also splurge and convert 25,000 Starwood points to 75,000 Marriott points for a suite with a view of the Las Vegas skyline!

2.   W Las Vegas

If you want to stay in the newest hotel in town, you can make a reservation at the W Las Vegas, which opens on December 1, 2016.

This hotel was previously the SLS Las Vegas.  It’s located on Las Vegas Boulevard, but it’s a ~10 minute drive from the major casino hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.

There are excellent dining options at the hotel like:

And of course there’s a casino on site.  You can also have fun on the weekends at the hotel’s nightclub, which is connected to beautiful outdoor pool.

Celebrate Your Time in Vegas at the Nightclub in the New W Las Vegas Hotel

You’ll pay 12,000 Starwood points or 36,000 Marriott points for a free night at this hotel, which is a good deal.  Because room nights can cost $250+ per night!

Note:   This hotel charges a $32 resort fee per night.

3.   Las Vegas Marriott

If you’re attending an event at the Las Vegas Convention Center, staying at the Las Vegas Marriott will be very convenient!

Because the hotel is only a ~5 minute walk from the convention center.

So attend an event at the convention center like the annual Consumer Electronics Show.  Then, walk back to the hotel and take a dip in the pool!

Relax Poolside at the Las Vegas Marriott After Attending an Event at the Nearby Convention Center!

Folks on TripAdvisor rate this hotel highly because of the exceptional staff, fantastic rooms, and great location!  And you can’t beat the ~5-minute walk to the convention center!

An award night here costs 30,000 Marriott points.  But you can convert 10,000 Starwood points, which is a terrific deal!

Rooms at this hotel can sell out quickly when there’s a popular convention in town.  So I’d recommend booking early!

4.   The Westin Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Spa

If you want to avoid long walks, which is common at larger casino hotels, you can stay at The Westin Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Spa.

This hotel is just 1 block away from the Las Vegas Strip.  So you can take a ~10 minute walk over to larger casino hotels like Caesar’s Palace.

Or you can play slots, video poker, black jack, or roulette at the hotel’s Max Casino.

Experience Excitement in the Casino at The Westin Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Spa!

For a terrific view at this hotel, folks on TripAdvisor recommend requesting a room facing the giant High Roller ferris wheel.  Reviewers give high marks to this hotel for the breakfast buffet and lobby bar!

And the Westin Heavenly Beds are always a hit because they’re so comfortable!

You’ll pay 12,000 Starwood points or 36,000 Marriott points for a free night.  If you’re looking to stay in a smaller hotel just off the strip, this can be a good way to redeem points!

Note:   This hotel charges a $25 resort fee per night.

Which Cards Earn You Points for Free Stays?

1.   Chase Marriott and Ritz-Carlton Credit Cards

Link:   Marriott Rewards Premier Business Card

Link:   Ritz-Carlton Rewards® Credit Card

With the Marriott Rewards Premier personal and small business cards, you’ll earn 80,000 Marriott points after completing minimum spending requirements.

If you get the personal version of the card, you can earn another 7,500 bonus Marriott points when you add an authorized user and make a purchase within the first 3 months of opening your account.  The $85 annual fee is NOT waived for the first year.

The $99 annual fee on the small business version of the card is also NOT waived for the first year.  Here’s my review of the offer.

2.   AMEX Starwood Credit Cards

Link:   Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express

You can earn 25,000 Starwood points after completing the minimum spending requirements on the Starwood Preferred Guest personal and small business cards.

When you pay for hotel stays using your AMEX or Chase co-branded Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, or Starwood credit card, you’ll earn bonus points at all 3 hotel chains.

For everyday non-bonus spending, I recommend the AMEX Starwood cards.  Because you’ll earn 1 Starwood point per $1 you spend, which can be converted to 3 Marriott or Ritz-Carlton points.  That’s better than the 1 Marriott or Ritz-Carlton point per $1 you spend you’ll get with the Marriott and Ritz-Carlton cards.

3.   Qualifying for These Cards

The AMEX cards are easier to get than the Chase cards.  Because earlier this year, Chase started to make it difficult for folks to be approved for Chase cards if you’ve opened ~5 or more credit cards (from any bank) in the past 24 months (excluding certain business cards).

That said, you ARE eligible for the Ritz-Carlton card even if you’ve opened lots of cards recently!

Keep in mind you can only earn the bonus on an AMEX card once per lifetime.

Bottom Line

You can use Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, or Starwood points to book stays at exciting hotels in Las Vegas.

Convert 15,000 Starwood points to 45,000 Marriott points for a stay at The Cosmopolitan, which is located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip!

Or relax off the main drag by staying at The Westin Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Spa.

Have you used points to stay in Las Vegas?  I’d love to hear about your experience!
