Via Running With Miles, the increased sign-up bonus offers on the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards cards are back! And they’re better than before!
You’ll earn 45,000 Wyndham points (worth 3 nights at any Wyndham hotel!) after you complete the minimum spending on the premium Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card.
And 30,000 Wyndham points (worth 2 nights at any Wyndham hotel) after completing minimum spending on the no-annual-fee version of the card.
We don’t earn a commission for either of these cards, but Emily and I will always tell you about the best offers!
This could be an excellent deal if you use your Wyndham points wisely. I’ll explain!
What’s the Deal?

Link: Wyndham Rewards Award Program Changes
Earlier this spring, Wyndham announced big changes to their award program. Starting May 11, 2015, all Wyndham hotel award nights will cost 15,000 points per night.
That’s great news for folks who redeem Wyndham points in expensive locations, including their top hotels and some all-inclusive resorts!
Wyndham hotels include:- Baymont Inn and Suites
- Days Inn
- Dolce
- Hawthorn Suites
- Howard Johnson
- Knights Inn
- Microtel
- Ramada
- Super 8
- Travelodge
- Tryp
- Wingate
- Wyndham
- Wyndham Garden
- Wyndham Grand
Let’s look at what you’ll earn with the new Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards cards!
1. Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards With Annual Fee
Like the previous increased offer, you’ll earn 45,000 Wyndham points (worth 3 nights at any Wyndham hotel) after meeting minimum spending requirements with the premium version of the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card.
But they’ve added an improved anniversary bonus of 15,000 Wyndham points, worth 1 free night at any Wyndham hotel!
With this card, you’ll get:
- 30,000 Wyndham points after your 1st purchase, plus 15,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the 1st 90 days of opening your account (45,000 points total)
- 15,000 Wyndham points on your account anniversary each year (was 5,500 Wyndham points)
- 5 points per $1 you spend at Wyndham hotels
- 2 points per $1 you spend on everything else
The $69 annual fee is NOT waived for the 1st year. But I’ll explain why it’s worth it!
Note: The main landing page does NOT show the additional 15,000 bonus for spending $1,000 on purchases in the 1st 90 days of opening your account (for either card). But it’s in the terms & conditions. You could get an amazing value from the 45,000 point sign-up bonus if you book stays at expensive resorts or in pricey locations.
For example, the Tryp by Wyndham Times Square South hotel costs ~$324 per night in July.
If you used the 45,000 point sign-up bonus at this hotel, you’d get 3 nights worth ~$972!
It’s well worth then $69 annual fee to earn 45,000 Wyndham points if you can use them at expensive hotels. And this is a card worth keeping, because for $69 you’ll get 15,000 points (worth another free night) on your card anniversary!
2. Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards With NO Annual Fee
The no-annual-fee version of the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card earns you 30,000 Wyndham points (worth 2 nights at any Wyndham hotel) after meeting minimum spending requirements. This is higher than the previous 20,000 Wyndham point offer.
But there’s NO anniversary bonus.
With this card, you’ll get:
- 15,000 bonus points after your 1st purchase, plus 15,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases the 1st 90 days of opening your account (30,000 points total)
- 3 points per $1 you spend at Wyndham hotels
- 2 points per $1 you spend on everything else
- NO annual fee
This is a great deal for a no-annual-fee card. But I think I’d rather pay the $69 fee and earn another free night (potentially worth $300+)!
Are Wyndham Award Nights Hard to Redeem?
The FAQ for the new Wyndham Rewards program says starting May 11, 2015, there will be NO blackout dates for redeeming award rooms. As long as there is a standard room available, you can book an award night.
Our go free award will replace our Free Night Stay program. The go free award will allow you to redeem 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points for one free night at any of our participating hotels worldwide – any standard room (up to max. occupancy), any participating property, down to last room available. No blackout dates.
They’ll publish the full terms and conditions of their new program on May 11, 2015. But it sounds like it should be relatively easy to book award nights through their new system.
Note: Before you consider for this card, remember that Barclaycard typically only approves folks for 1 to 2 cards per year. Other Barclaycards, like the Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite Mastercard, might be better suited to your travel style.Bottom Line
The Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards cards are back with improved sign-up bonuses. You could earn enough points for 3 free nights at any Wyndham hotel from 1 card after meeting minimum spending requirements!
Some top Wyndham hotels cost $300+ per night or more. So this could be an excellent deal for folks who can use Wyndham points at their expensive hotels and resorts.
Emily and I don’t earn a commission from these cards, but we’ll always share the best deals with our readers!
