Knowing I’m a rewards credit card geek, a friend sent me this photo:
While this is better than the previous offer of an avocado, I recommend that you do NOT sign-up for this card.
Here’s the Deal
In all seriousness, while folks in our hobby know to never trade a credit card pull for a gourd, other people DO sign-up for cards that don’t have great sign-up bonuses or bonus spending categories.
I have friends who, many years ago, signed-up for credit cards to get a t-shirt. You may know folks who have signed-up for department store credit cards to save $50 or so at the register.
I’m very grateful to have found our hobby and learned what’s a good deal. And what is NOT!
That said, folks with average credit or who are new to credit don’t always have many options. So instead of building your credit with the Walmart card, you might consider these cards instead.
I love hearing your stories of how you got Big Travel with Small Money from learning about the best miles & points credit cards, airline & hotel promotions, and deals.
But if you see an interesting sign-up bonus (like this 1), please let me know about it too! 🙂
Now that I think about it, the Walmart card DOES have a better sign-up bonus than the Citi Double Cash Card. 😛
Of course, the Walmart card doesn’t give you cash back or access to the terrific Citi Price Rewind program like the Double Cash card.
Emily and I don’t receive a commission or even a pumpkin pie when you apply for the Walmart card. But we’ll always tell you about the best deals. And the ones to avoid!
Happy Halloween!
