There are LOTS of credit cards out there, all with different benefits and bonuses.
Banks seem to enjoy giving their credit cards similar names. You might apply for the wrong one if you aren’t careful!
I’ve put a lot of credit cards with similar sounding names side-by-side, so you can compare the perks and decide which card is best for you, and find the application link, all in one place!
Let’s look at the most common credit cards with similar sounding names!
Avoid Confusion and Find the Card You Want With This List
Here is a list of popular credit cards that are easily mistaken with one another. I’ve sorted them by the issuing bank.
Chase
Chase offers some of the best cards for getting Big Travel with Small Money. But a few of their cards have similar sounding names, with benefits that are a WORLD apart!

American Express
Don’t forget, American Express limits folks to one sign-up bonus per lifetime, per card. So if you’ve had any of these cards before, you can’t earn the bonus again.

Barclaycard
Barclaycard typically approves folks for only 1 or 2 Barclaycard credit cards per year. So it’s important to decide carefully which Barclaycard credit cards are right for you.
Common reasons for a denial are:
- Too many recent credit applications in general
- Too many recent Barclaycard credit applications
- Already enough credit available on existing Barclaycard credit cards
- Not using their existing Barclaycard credit cards enough (they want to see more than a few purchases a month)
So make each application count!

Credit Card Products
Some credit card companies won’t let you get the sign-up bonus on a similar card, unless the card is considered a “different product.”
For example, you can’t get the bonus on the AMEX EveryDay card more than once. But you CAN get the bonus on the AMEX EveryDay, and later apply for the AMEX EveryDay Preferred, because they are not the same card product.
Each bank has different rules, but you can read my general guidelines of how to tell if credit cards are different products here.
Bottom Line
Lots of credit cards have similar sounding names. Some even have similar benefits. But applying for the wrong credit card can mean a difference of tens of thousands of points!
Always be sure to study the benefits of each credit card, and don’t assume a similar name means equivalent perks.
