The buffet was arranged inside the buildings.
The sous chef was informed about my allergy, and took care to make sure that I didn’t eat fish on the buffet. The buffet was very large and had almost anything you could want: hot American foods…
…and Indian breakfast foods.
You could get a paratha made to order…
as well as made to order eggs,
ham, pancakes and French toast.
There were multiple kinds of juices…
and fresh fruit…
And lots of cereal.
The other food at the Hyatt was overpriced and not that tasty. We ordered a spinach and goat cheese salad as an appetizer, and my mom and I decided to split lasagna. The lasagna was a small portion and not very tasty.
It cost about $10 for an appetizer and about $20 for a main course plus taxes.
The ricotta and mozzarella cheese layers seemed to be missing, and it was almost all minced beef. The spinach salad was also alright, and the portion was very small. I was a bit disappointed in the serving sizes since I’m used to paying much less and getting much more in other parts of India. The restaurants outside of the hotel are cheaper, but due to my fish allergy, I could not take risks and eat there.
For dessert, we ordered cashew nut crème brulee, a Goan crepe, and a Goan custard. I didn’t care much for any of the desserts, but if I had to choose one it would be the crème brulee.
For lunch, we went to Zeebop’s, a seaside restaurant that is about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel.
The last time we went to the Park Hyatt in Goa, Daraius and his family went to all of the nearby shacks because it was much cheaper. Zeebop’s had the best tasting food at the most reasonable price. The other places (closer to the Hyatt) charged more but tasted worse.
If you stay at the Hyatt, walk to the beach, and turn left. Keep walking along the beach for about 10 minutes and you will see Zeebop on the left side. You could follow Google maps and walk on the inner road, but it is more interesting to walk by the beach.
The food was reasonably priced with most appetizers about $4 or $5 and most main courses about $8 to $10.
At Zeebop’s, we ordered our drinks, and we shared fish curry, fried fish and crab papad , and a fillet of fish. I couldn’t eat here because of my allergy so I had some chips which I brought with me.
Everyone seemed to enjoy everything because it was disappearing fast!
After eating, we took some pictures at the restaurant.
The restaurant also has a parking lot out back for folks who want to drive there.
