Emily: Daraius and I went to Key West for a few days in October for a mini-vacation. We drove from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West on the Overseas Highway, which was a very nice drive. We stayed at the Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa, and had a wonderful time relaxing and seeing the Key West sites.

Hyatt Key West
Emily: At around 6:00 pm, we arrived in Key West and checked into the Hyatt Key West Resort & Spa.The Hyatt Key West is very well located. You are literally a 5 minute walk from Mallory Square, Duval Street, and the ship docks! Here’s a map with the Hyatt’s location.
Daraius was going to use 22,000 Hyatt points for each night at the Hyatt in Key West, but then found a great rate for ~$190 including taxes! We don’t have an unlimited supply of Hyatt points, and preferred saving those 22,000 Hyatt points to stay in Hyatt hotels which cost $600+ a night.
However, the hotel does charge a $20 resort fee, which was reduced to $15 for Diamond members. I’m not a fan of resort fees and in this case the fee covered parking and internet access. So it could be worth it given how close to everything the Hyatt is which could save you some parking fees.
The hotel has free parking for guests, but we had to wait a few minutes for a spot to open up. The attendant told us that we could park in the handicapped parking, but we waited for a car to back-out from a spot.
We took our bags to the lobby and checked in.
We booked a standard room at the Hyatt and were upgraded to a room with a better view for free. I suspect that this was because Daraius was a Hyatt Diamond member.
The hotel had many activities, including a swimming pool and hot tub.
Although it was a small pool, it wasn’t very crowded.
But we were visiting during low season when it wasn’t very busy.
The hotel set up lounge chairs overlooking the sea.
And there were more lounge chairs on the deck and the hotel dock.
Key West doesn’t have many beaches, but the Hyatt did try to create a small one. It was really, really, small!
They even had darts and a foosball table…
and even corn hole (bean bag toss).
You could also see turtles…
and birds.
The hotel provided a monthly calendar of activities in our room.
We were looking forward to relaxing in our room. The room was large.
The room was painted in white and had lots of windows, so it felt very spacious.
There was a small sitting area with three armchairs.
There was a small, functional desk…
with an iPhone charging station…
a dresser with a coffee machine…
with Nespresso refills.
and a king size bed.
I liked the balcony because of the nice view. The suite overlooked the swimming pool. You could also see the gulf.
There was a lounge chair and regular chairs on the balcony and it was relaxing sitting outside.
The bathroom was pretty large.
It had a walk-in shower…
with a rain shower head.
The bathroom only had only 1 sink but there was ample counter space.
The amenities were the usual Hyatt amenities, which included shampoo, conditioner, and body wash…
as well as mouthwash, toothpaste, and body lotion.
Bottom Line
The Hyatt Key West Resort was very close to Duval street and Mallory Square and we could walk and bike everywhere!
