Groupon.com is the wildly popular internet coupon site which provides you with fantastic deals in your city and in other cities across the world. But did you know that you can get miles for your Groupon purchase?

These deals offer discounts of as much as 90 percent from local businesses, such as restaurants, nail salons, massage parlors, auto shops etc.  Groupon.com posts a new deal everyday, and you can even sign up for email alerts!

I’ve used Groupons to get 50% off bike rentals in Washington, DC (it was great cycling through the National Mall and seeing the sites!) and cruises in Vancouver, BC.  I even get discounts at my favorite restaurants, and on car detailing!

Groupon.com has grown very fast and is expected to have an IPO value of ~$25 Billion!

In addition to signing-up for the Groupon email in my city, I also sign up for the Groupon email in cities which I am going to visit in the next 6 to 8 months.

Full Disclosure: The links to Groupon.com in this post are referral links which will give me a $10 Groupon credit for each new  member who purchases a Groupon.  You should know that I don’t recommend products which I don’t personally use, because that would be, well, NOT cool. I’ve been using Groupon.com for the last 6 months and have saved a LOT of money and earned ~3,000 miles!

I LOVE Groupon. I mainly used for dining out. Esp. good for trying out new restaurant.

Do you think a ~$2800/person deal on Groupon, 14 days, 6 cities, hotel & breakfast & flights (from jfk) & trains included is a good deal for a first time traveller to Europe?

@Taurusa – It could be. I’d price out the individual components yourself and see if it is less or more than the Groupon price.

Wow, I have been an AA member for over 2 decades and I do a ton of online shopping and had never heard of the AA shopping mall. Thank you for opening my eyes to something they really don’t advertise!

@Katherine – Hope you earn a lot of American Airlines miles!

Oh, and only 1 mile per dollar for Delta!

Unfortunately, AA is only offering 2 miles per dollar for Groupon now
