We’ve seen some incredible deals to popular European cities lately.

And it can be very cheap it can be to visit other areas of Europe!  So even if you aren’t interested in visiting a city with cheap airfare, it can be worth buying, so you can hop around other areas by plane, train, or bus!

Busradar is an iOS and Android app (and website) that makes booking long-distance ground transportation easy.  It collects information from many companies and presents them in an easy-to-view app.

Busradar Works on Most Mobile Phones to Display Travel Information Clearly

I’ll show you how to use Busradar to easily purchase long-distance ground transportation.

You can use Busradar for more than bus tickets, as its name would lead you to believe.  You can use it to book train fare, and carpooling services like BlaBlaCar!

Most folks know that buying train tickets can save money when hopping around Europe.  But depending on the route, a bus fare can be a better idea.  Some buses are comfortable, have Wi-Fi, and are very cheap.

Consider Traveling Europe by Bus – It Could Save You Money Over Airfare or a Rental Car!

Million Mile Secrets team member Scott took a bus from Warsaw to picturesque Polish towns.  He’s found it to be a decent experience for the price.  It’s a bus after all, not a limousine! 😉

How to Book a Ticket

Busradar brings all the major long-distance providers to one screen, so you can compare price and schedules.  Here’s how it works!

Step 1.   Enter Travel Details

Tell Busradar where you are and where you’re headed.  Then enter the dates you’re planning to travel.

Step 1 – Give Busradar Your Travel Information

Tap the menu in the top left corner to open a menu and view your saved connections, as well as change travel preferences, like which currency you want to see, and which types of transportation you prefer.

You can also see your recent searches at the bottom of the screen.

For Quick Access to Your Saved Trips or to Change Preferences, Tap the Top Left Menu

Begin typing a city or country to get suggestions, or tap “Around Me”  to view the nearest stations.  Once you find where you want to go, you can add it to your “Favorites” by pressing the heart icon next to the city name.

Busradar Will Guess Which Station You Want Based on the City You’re Searching For

You can also tap “Where Can I Go?” to see everywhere you can buy a ticket through Busradar.  Sadly, the US isn’t included.

You Can Book Tickets in 55 Countries Through Busradar!

Step 2.   Click Advanced Search

If you’re booking tickets for multiple passengers, tap “Advanced Search”.  Or you can choose a search radius for stations near the cities you typed in.  You’ll even be able to filter your search between bus, carpooling, or train tickets.

Step 2 – Click Advanced Search to Select Number of Passengers and Preferred Mode of Transportation

Step 3.   Find Your Ticket

You’ll see a list of tickets with different prices and times.  And you can easily view other days by scrolling the date list.

You can see which company is offering each ticket underneath the ticket price.

Step 3 – View the List of Itineraries and Choose the One That Best Fits Your Plans (and Budget!)

At the bottom of the screen are 2 filters.  You can use them to refine your search results by price, departure time, trip duration, and more.

Step 4.   Select Your Ticket

Find the ticket that best suits your travel plans and tap it to see more details about each ticket.

You can view a map of your route, any connections, and amenities you can expect during your ride.  You can also save the itinerary for later.

Step 4 – Select a Ticket to View the Full Details

Step 5.   Press “Book Tickets”

When you’re ready to book your ticket, you’ll be redirected out of the Busradar app, and sent to the website of the company selling the ticket.

You Won’t Make Any Purchases Inside the Busradar App

Step 6.   Purchase Your Ticket

Buy your ticket from the website Busradar directed you to.  Most of the information should already be filled out, so make sure your travel details are correct and enter your billing information.  That’s it!

Step 6 – Enter Your Billing Info

Where Busradar Is Lacking

Busradar is easy to use and displays information beautifully.  But there are some improvements I’d like to see!

1.   In-App Purchases

You can NOT buy a ticket without leaving the app.  I’d like to be able to make in-app purchases, so I wouldn’t have to type my information into multiple websites when buying tickets from different agencies.

If everything was taken care of through the app, the app could store your ticket information, and even provide electronic tickets in one easily accessible place.

2.   Ability to Book Tickets in the US

I’d love to be able to schedule bus, train, and carpool rides in the US through the app.  You can book fares from companies like Megabus through Busradar.  But NOT in the US, even though Megabus operates inside the US.

This makes the app only useful if you’re outside the US.

Consider Rome2Rio

Link:   Rome2Rio

Rome2Rio is similar to Busradar, but more flexible.  Because you can book buses, trains, cars, and airfare.  And you can book transportation in more countries than Busradar (including the US!).
Rome2Rio Will Help You Piece Together the Cheapest Possible Itinerary

It’s also available for iOS and Android.  And has lots of positive reviews.  Perhaps give both apps a try and see which one you like best!

Note:   Remember to reserve your travel with credit cards that earn bonus points for travel purchases, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve, or Citi Prestige!

Bottom Line

Busradar is a handy app and website that you can use to book cheap long-distance ground transportation in over 50 countries.  The user interface is simple and uncluttered, and it’s very easy to use!

You can NOT use Busradar to book airfare or travel within the US.  So if your travel includes either of those things, try Rome2Rio instead.
