How You Can Do It Too!
The Grand Hyatt Macau is located inside the “City of Dreams” complex, which includes the Hard Rock Hotel, the Crown Towers Hotel, a casino, a theater, and several restaurants and shops. The Grand Hyatt is a category 4 Hyatt hotel & costs 15,000 Hyatt points per night and the entry rooms are a Grand Suite which cost ~$359 per night.
Or you can pay 7,500 Hyatt points & $100 per night with the Hyatt Points + Cash option.
When we arrived we were upgraded to an Executive Suite.
1. Hyatt Credit Card
You get 2 free nights valid at any Hyatt hotel once you complete the minimum spending on the Hyatt credit card. You can use these free nights at ANY Hyatt hotel in the world. You have to call Hyatt to book these free nights.
You can stay if the hotel has standard rooms available for booking at Hyatt.com. So you can check availability for yourself before calling Hyatt.
2. Ultimate Rewards Points
Chase Ultimate Rewards Points from the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Bold & Ink Plus transfer at a 1:1 ratio to Hyatt hotels. You can also transfer your Ultimate Rewards points from the Chase Freedom to the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Bold or Ink Plus. And from there to Hyatt hotel points.
Grand Hyatt Macau
Emily Jablon: Once we arrived at the hotel, the bellhops took our luggage and we went inside. The hotel was huge with an expansive lobby.

I liked the water fountain centerpiece.

The Lobby Lounge served beverages and items from the a la carte menu. We never ate there, so can’t comment on the food!

A uniformed gentleman took us up to the Grand Club Tower to check-in.

We went to the Lounge and got checked in.

There were lots of places to sit and the lounge was quite big and tastefully decorated.

One room wasn’t ready yet, so we waited about 20 minutes in the lounge. We were treated to drinks along with biscuits and cookies.
The Executive Suite
Once our rooms were ready, the manager walked us there. We were upgraded to an Executive Suite because of our Diamond status. The suite usually costs ~$360 per night.

You walked into a spacious living area with floor to ceiling windows.

We could also see the pool lined with palm trees.

The living room had a huge wraparound sofa.

There was a charging station by the sofa.

There was a large screen TV…

…a minibar, a coffeemaker, and loose tea.

We received a complimentary bottle of wine.

I appreciated the hotel making us feel special.

There was a separate bedroom area with more floor to ceiling windows.

There was a king sized bed…

…and another flat screen TV was in the bedroom…

…along with a walk-in closet.

There was also a reading chair.

The bathroom was very luxurious, and had a bathtub, a rain shower, and a hand shower.

The shower area by itself could have been a small room!

Also in the bathroom were double sinks with large countertops.

We received a lot of amenities from cotton balls to shower gel.

We were given June Jacobs amenities.

We were always given a lot of water to drink each day.

The room was elegantly designed with a contemporary, warm feel. It made me feel comfortable and at home!

After freshening up a bit, we decided to explore the rest of the hotel. Staying at the Grand Hyatt in Macau is not like staying at any Hyatt though. We loved that the City of Dreams complex wasn’t as hectic as the other casino complexes in Macau.

I was looking forward to doing some “window shopping.”

As we walked through the mall we saw interesting art and Christmas decor.

After we did some shopping, we checked out the casino. It looked like many other casinos we’ve been to.

Inside the City of Dreams complex there is the House of Dancing Water theater show. It is a combination of dance, theater, gymnastics, and diving.

We enjoyed the elaborate costumes and acrobatics.

There is also the Dragon’s Treasure Theatre. The show is inside a dome shaped theater on a screen that wraps around 360 degrees. It is a ~20 minute show and an interesting experience, but not something we would watch a second time.

The complex has almost a resort feel with the huge architecture and bold interior design. I loved how festive everything was for the holidays!

There were even Christmas carolers who performed in the lobby!

It was a unique hotel that we were glad to have visited!

Bottom Line
We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hyatt Macau. The Executive suite was spacious and inviting. I liked the luxurious bathroom and the wraparound sofa. What’s even better is using our points to stay for free!
Much like many of the hotels in Vegas, there are lots interesting things to see at the Grand Hyatt Macau and in the City of Dreams complex. You can cross the road to get into the Venetian complex which has more restaurants and food. Or take a bus or cab to explore old Macau!
Hi, I used to own a Chase Hyatt credit card but canceled because I rarely stayed at Hyatt’s. I canceled the card about a year ago.
Things may have changed and I will likely book more stays at Hyatt hotels. Do you know how strictly they enforce the 2 free night sign up bonus for new cardmembers? Do you know if I would get 2 free nights if I signed up again for the Hyatt Chase card?
Thanks for the info! Man I don’t have any gold/platinum status anywhere yet (just silver, which seems kinda worthless), so I can’t even do the diamond challenge. Once you hit diamond, do you still have to maintain it or are you locked in even without activity?
I have the same question as Chris, what’s the best/easiest/cheapest/quickest way to Diamond status? We have a few stays at Hyatts this summer.
@Chris @Ken – The quickest way is to do a Hyatt Diamond challenge where you get temporary Diamond status for matching your existing hotel elite status.
This is awesome! I just finished my spending for the SW cards (went through your guys’ links, of course) and got my companion pass. Now I’m ready to load up on another card. What’s the best way to achieve Diamond Status for Hyatt? Should I start now or wait till next year?
Disregard my earlier comment.
I see you had already booked a suite – they just upgraded you to a different “type of suite”.
I was confused by the T&C’s.
