A few months ago, I told you about IHG and Kimpton’s plan to merge their loyalty programs in early 2018.

This was exciting news, because it meant we’d soon be able to earn and redeem IHG points for stays at Kimpton Hotels.  And via Million Mile Secrets reader IAD Gr8, you can now book Kimpton Hotels with IHG points!

This news has been a long time coming!

In 2014, IHG bought Kimpton Hotels.  And ever since then, we’ve been waiting to be able to use IHG points to book Kimpton Hotels.

The day has come, and you can now use your IHG points to book the 60+ Kimpton hotels in the US and beyond.  You can presumably use your Chase IHG free night at these hotels, too!

The Kimpton Website Redirects to the IHG Website

You’ll find Kimpton hotels in 35 popular cities, like:

I didn’t examine every Kimpton hotel, but from a quick search, it looks like award nights at these hotels might not be the best value.  Because the points prices are very high in relation to the cash price.

That said, I definitely appreciate more options for redeeming my miles & points!  And some Kimpton hotels look really fun, like the Seafire Resort and Spa in Grand Cayman!

The Kimpton Grand Cayman Costs 70,000 IHG Points per Night! But the Cash Price Can Cost $600+, So You’ll Get a Better Value for Your Points Than Most Kimpton Hotels I Found!

Bottom Line

You can now use your IHG points for stays at Kimpton hotels!  But expect to spend between 40,000 and 70,000 IHG points per night.  I’m always grateful for more ways to use miles & points, so this is a welcome development!

What do you think about this new IHG improvement?  Does it soften the blow of the recent increased award prices and devaluation of their Best Rate Guarantee?
