The merger between Alaska Airlines and Virgin America continues to progress!
Earlier, I reminded you you’ll be able to transfer your Virgin America points to Alaska Airlines at a ratio of 1 : 1.3 starting some time today. And the points transfer is now live!
All you need to do is sign-in with your Virgin America account details, then select the number of Virgin America points you’d like to convert to Alaska Airlines miles (in increments of 50).
And you’ll automatically receive a 30% bonus when your Virgin America points are transferred to Alaska Airlines!
So if you transfer 10,000 Virgin America points to Alaska Airlines, you’ll end up with 13,000 Alaska Airlines miles.
There are lots of great ways to redeem Alaska Airlines miles for Big Travel. But there’s no hurry to convert your points. This option will likely be available until the merger is complete.
If there’s an Alaska Airlines redemption you have in mind, it’s a good idea to book it as quickly as possible. But before you transfer your points to Alaska Airlines, make sure there are NO Virgin America flights you’d rather redeem your points for. Because transfers are final (you won’t be able to turn your new Alaska Airlines miles back into Virgin America points)!
Bottom Line
You can now transfer Virgin America points to Alaska Airlines miles. And you’ll receive a 30% bonus!
Before you transfer, be positive there are no Virgin America flights you’d use your Virgin America points to book. Because you will NOT be able to transfer your points back to Virgin America after you’ve converted them to Alaska Airlines miles.
