I wrote last week about a terrific sale on flights to Iceland (and beyond) on WOW Air.  You can fly from Boston or Washington, DC (Baltimore), to Reykjavik for just $99 1-way!

Now they’ve expanded the sale!  Fly to Copenhagen, London, or Paris (via Reykjavik) for just $149 from the US.  And there are good deals to other European cities.

This sale is valid for travel dates from November 1, 2015, to December 15, 2015, and January 10, 2016, to March 10, 2016.

Flights returning to the US are more expensive.  But this is still an excellent deal if you’re planning European travel this fall and winter!

London Calling? Fly From Boston or Washington, DC (Baltimore) for $149 1-Way on WOW Air!

Let’s look at where the best deals are!

What’s the Deal?

WOW Air is a budget airline based in Iceland.  They’re not fancy, but their service is excellent and their planes are clean and new.

You can fly from Boston and Washington, DC (Baltimore) to Reykjavik from $99 1-way.  Return flights start at ~$170 (still a bargain!).

Under $100 to Iceland Is a Fantastic Deal!

But now the sale includes $149 fares from Boston and Washington, DC, to Copenhagen, London, and Paris!

Other good deals include:

  • Amsterdam – ~$207
  • Berlin – ~$207 (~$228 from Boston)
  • Dublin – $199
  • Stockholm – ~$210

Bargain Prices to Europe! Visit Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Dublin, or Stockholm for Cheap, Too!

Return flights are more expensive.  And keep in mind, WOW Air charges fees for seat selection, large carry-on bags, and checked bags.  So this is only a good deal if you can pack light.

If you plan to rent a car in Iceland, check out my post on how to find the best price!  And remember to bring a card with chip-and-PIN capability to get gas!

Check out my Iceland trip report!  And see how I discovered that Icelanders are some of the nicest people in the world.

Use the Right Credit Card!

Don’t forget to pay with a card that earns bonus points for travel or airfare purchased directly from airlines:

What About Hotels?

There are few chain hotels in Iceland.  Only Best Western, Club Carlson, and Hilton have hotels in Reykjavik (although there are lots of independent hotels).

But in other European cities, you have lots of options!

I like using Hotel Hustle (which even shows you if rooms are actually available!) or AwardMapper to find hotels that can be booked with points.

Here are some of my top picks for Hilton hotels in Europe.  Check out my post on all the ways to earn Hilton points!

Transfer Points From Other Programs to Hilton for a Stay in Reykjavik or Other Cities in Europe

And here are some of my favorite Starwood hotels in Europe.  You might also consider booking a Choice Hotel, because many of their expensive European hotels cost relatively few points (especially in Scandinavia).

Note:  If you’re booking a paid stay, check out discount sites like Orbitz, Expedia, or TravelPony for deals.  But you won’t get stay credits or points (and might not have your elite status recognized).

Or if you’re feeling adventurous or want a more local experience, Airbnb is a great way to save money, especially for longer stays.  Here are my tips for getting a better price on Airbnb!    And how to choose a good (and safe) Airbnb.

Bottom Line

The WOW Air fare sale has been expanded!  Fly from Boston and Washington, DC (Baltimore), to Reykjavik, Iceland, for $99 1-way.  Or to Copenhagen, London, or Paris for just $149 1-way!

Return flights are more expensive, but can still be an excellent deal.  Or consider booking your flight home with miles & points instead!

This is only a bargain if you can pack light (because WOW Air charges substantial baggage fees).  I experienced WOW Air on my trip to Iceland and enjoyed the flights very much!

These fares won’t last long, so book soon if you’re interested.  And let me know if you book a ticket!

Wow Air. I tell you this is a great budget airline. I just ran numbers for Baltimore to Paris. It was like $325.00 without luggage and if you pay for 20 kgs luggage its $450.00 or so. Still the best available deal out there. Winter in Paris! Wow!!!!! Copehagan and Berlin. Bring it on. Also great for budget travellers and backpackers who just need to get anywhere in Europe for cheap.
