Here’s another great deal on flights to Asia! United Airlines, ANA, and Cathay Pacific are offering discounted tickets from numerous US cities including Los Angeles, Houston, New York, and more, to Bangkok for $462+ round-trip!
And with this deal you can actually book these flights for free and earn frequent flyer miles at the same time! Here’s how to do it!
There are cheap fares from September 2018 through March 2019, depending on your departure city.
For example, you can book round-trip coach flights from $462 to the low $600s from cities including:
- Chicago
- Houston
- Los Angeles
- Newark
- New York (JFK)
- New York (LaGuardia)
- San Francisco
- San Jose
- Washington, DC
To search for discounted routes that fit your travel plans, see our post for how to use Google Flights to find sale dates. Then book directly on the airlines’ website, or through a site like Expedia.
With prices as low as this, it can make even more sense to pay with flexible points for your flights. You could end up paying fewer points compared to booking an award ticket. You’ll even earn frequent flyer miles while you’re at it!
For example, I have The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, and I was able to find a flight between Los Angeles and Bangkok for $522 on the AMEX Travel Portal. Because United Airlines is my selected airline, I’ll get 35% of my points back using Pay With Points!
This means a United Airlines flight that costs $522 (or 52,171 AMEX Membership Rewards points), will actually only cost me ~33,911 AMEX Membership Rewards points after factoring in the 35% rebate. That’s a great deal!
You could also use Chase Ultimate Rewards points from a card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card to purchase your ticket through the Chase Travel Portal for 1.25 cents per point. The cheapest flights from this deal will only set you back 36,960 Chase Ultimate Rewards points (~$462 airfare / 1.25 cents per point)!
Lots of these deals involve connections with multiple airlines. So when you’re searching the Chase Travel Portal, be sure to select that option.
Happy sale searching! Let us know if you book a ticket!
