Exciting news! You’ll now have more ways to book award seats on non-stop routes to Dublin. There are now more JetBlue flights from New York to Boston and Florida. And new non-stop Air Canada flights from Vancouver to Delhi.
Also, Icelandair has upgraded to Boeing 767 planes on certain flights, creating more seats you can book with miles!
I’ll give you ideas for how to use miles & points for award seats on these new routes and planes!
1. Aer Lingus Starts Non-Stop Flights From Los Angeles to Dublin!
This week, Aer Lingus launched non-stop service between Los Angeles and Dublin. Additional non-stop flights between Dublin and Hartford and Newark will begin in September 2016.Aer Lingus already flies between Dublin and Boston, Chicago, and New York.
Aer Lingus award flights between Boston and Dublin are one of my top 5 cheap ways to get to Europe using miles and points!
2. New JetBlue Flights From New York (LGA) to Boston. And More Frequent Flights from Newark to Florida!
Starting October 31, 2016, JetBlue will add flights between New York (LGA) and Boston. One-way fares start at $49.
JetBlue is also adding more daily flights from Newark to these Florida destinations:
- Fort Lauderdale
- Fort Myers
- Palm Beach
You can book these flights using JetBlue points.
My friends love JetBlue for the extra legroom in coach, free snacks & in-flight Wi-Fi, and live TV. Also, JetBlue points don’t expire and there are never blackout dates on award flights. And you can combine your points with family members for free!
3. Air Canada Launches Non-Stop Flight From Vancouver to Delhi, India
Just before Diwali begins, Air Canada will launch non-stop service to Delhi starting October 20, 2016. There will be 3 flights per week on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner through April 8, 2017.
Round-trip fares start at ~$777 for a limited time to promote the new route. Or use miles!
One-way award flights are:
- 50,000 Aeroplan miles (plus taxes and fees) in coach
- 75,000 Aeroplan miles (plus taxes and fees) in Business Class.
To save on the taxes and fees, you could use United Airlines miles. One-way award flights will cost 42,500 United Airlines miles in coach or 80,000 United Airlines miles in Business Class. But taxes and fees are ~$59.
4. Icelandair to Fly Newly Upgraded Boeing 767s
Your next flight on Icelandair from New York, Chicago (ORD), and Boston might be on an upgraded airplane. These planes allow for more passengers and the Boeing 767 has new seats, in-flight entertainment systems, and Wi-Fi.
Icelandair already had great perks such as 2 free checked bags. Plus, they’ve got a more extensive meal selection (meals are free in Business Class and Economy Comfort). Children on board, ages 2 to 11, also get a free meal and juice box!
You can use 22,500 Alaska Airlines miles to book one-way coach award flights on Icelandair between the US and Iceland. Business Class award flights are 50,000 Alaska Airlines miles each way.
WOW Air also flies to Iceland. But you can’t use points to book flights and they charge fees for most everything, including seat selection and checked baggage. Flight prices are very reasonable though!
I like that Icelandair is improving the flying experience. And it’s great because competition between the 2 airlines can improve service and keep prices fair!
Let me know if you’ll be flying on any of these new routes!
