How to Get the Most Out of Your Statement Credits
Here are a few tips on how to maximize your statement credits.
1. Buy Gift Cards
You will still get the statement credit if you buy gift cards. This is a great way to get the full amount from your credit.

2. Split the Bill
If you decide to use your AMEX credit cards at a local restaurant, you could ask the server to divide the bill into separate checks.

3. Pay in $10 Increments
Some shops may allow you to pay for a larger item in separate payments on different AMEX cards.

Where to Shop
You can find small businesses in your area using the AMEX Shop Small Map. Eligible small business categories include:
- Dining
- Entertainment
- Services
- Shopping
- Travel
The small business must be on the list in order for you to get your statement credit.
