United Airlines is taking a step to help make your airport experience a bit smoother by partnering with CLEAR to bring it’s expedited security program to all of United’s hubs. CLEAR is already available at 30 airports nationwide as well as select sporting venues and Hertz car rental locations.

As a result of this partnership, by the end of this summer CLEAR will be available at two new United Airlines hub cities – Newark and Houston. Also, by the fall of 2019 CLEAR will be available at Chicago’s O’Hare airport.

I have Global Entry which includes TSA PreCheck benefits, so I have little need for CLEAR. If breezing through airport security is on your wishlist, Global Entry is the way to go because it’s exponentially cheaper than CLEAR and you can get your Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fee reimbursed with the right card.

A CLEAR membership normally costs $179 per year, but United MileagePlus members have an opportunity to get a free or discounted membership.

You can get a free membership if you have either of the following United Airlines status levels:

You are eligible for a discounted $109 CLEAR membership if you have:

The cost of a CLEAR membership for all other United MileagePlus members is $119. United’s MileagePlus loyalty program is free to join and you can read this post for step-by-step instructions on how to set up a United Airlines account.

If you qualify, you can take advantage of your CLEAR discount from United by registering through this link.
