Credit cards come with amazing perks these days. You can get free lounge access, Uber credits, and cash back onto your credit card statements. Several travel credit cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® include a statement credit for the application fee for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck (worth up to $100.) Lots of credit cards offer this benefit, so it’s worth checking to see if you have any unused credits that you can regift to friends & family.
Since I can’t use all of the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credits, I’ve given them to friends and family. My partner got Global Entry, and so did my daughter. My mom now has Global Entry, and so does my cousin.
The cost to apply for Global Entry is $100, and the cost to apply for TSA PreCheck is $85. Both of these programs last 5 years. Getting TSA PreCheck or Global Entry is worth it.
I love not having to stand in long lines and go through the hassle of removing my shoes and laptop for every trip. The application fee credits are transferrable, but you have to provide your credit card information to them (or fill out the application payment section for them.)
