Via Points With a Crew, Southwest is giving folks a 40% bonus when buying Southwest points. To qualify for the bonus, you’ll have to make your purchase by January 23, 2018, at 11:59 pm Central Time.
If you need points to top off your account for a certain award flight, this could be the deal you’ve been looking for! But I’ll show you why other folks should steer clear.

Buy Southwest Points for ~1.96 Cents Each
Link: Buy Southwest Points
Southwest points are some of the easiest points to assign a value to. That’s because the Southwest award prices are tied directly to the cash price of the ticket. So when there’s a Southwest sale, both the cash price and award price decrease!
In practice, Southwest points can be worth between 1.6 cents and 2 cents per point. So purchasing them for any more than that would NOT be a good idea.
Southwest usually sells points for 3 cents each. But with this deal, you can buy Southwest points for as little as ~1.96 cents each. Here’s what you need to know:
- You must purchase by January 23, 2018, at 11:59 pm Central Time
- You’ll get a 40% bonus when you buy 5,000+ Southwest points at a time
- The bonus is also valid for gifting 5,000+ Southwest points in a single transaction
Is This a Good Deal?
If you need 5,000+ Southwest points to top off your account for a certain award flight, this could be a good deal for you. But I do NOT recommend folks purchase Southwest points otherwise.
While it is possible to get a better value from your Southwest points than 1.96 cents each, it will likely be difficult. And the savings won’t be jaw-dropping. I’d rather keep my cash and reserve Southwest flights for a similar price.
Million Mile Secrets readers love Southwest because you can modify or cancel your flight up to 10 minutes before departure. Plus, every passenger gets 2 free checked bags.
And if you have the Southwest Companion Pass, you can take a friend or family member with you for nearly free for up to 2 years! Emily and I consider the Southwest Companion Pass to be the best deal in travel. And earning the Companion Pass is easy!
Note: Buying Southwest point will NOT help you qualify for the Southwest Companion Pass.
Bottom Line
Southwest is offering a 40% bonus when you buy or gift 5,000+ Southwest points. That means you can effectively buy Southwest points for ~1.96 cents each.
Unless you’re topping off your account for a certain award flight, I’d give this deal a pass. Because it can be difficult to get a value greater than 1.96 cents each for your Southwest points.
Is this deal worth it for you?
