Link:   75% Bonus on Club Carlson Points

Until 11:59 am Eastern Time on June 19, 2014, you can buy up to 40,000 Club Carlson points and get a 75% bonus.  So if you bought the maximum number of points allowed a year (40,000 Club Carlson points), you would pay $280 and get 70,000 Club Carlson points.

Club Carlson normally sells points for 0.7 cents per point (sign in required).  With this deal, you’re buying Club Carlson points for 0.4 cents per point.

Most expensive Radisson hotels costs 50,000 Club Carlson points a night.  So you could buy 29,000 Club Carlson points and get 50,750 Club Carlson points for $203 (29,000 Club Carlson points x 75 % bonus Club Carlson points).

For example, 1 night at the Radisson Blu Style Hotel, Vienna on January 21, 2015, costs 50,000 Club Carlson points or ~$233 on the Radisson website and ~$230 on Kayak.

Buying Club Carlson Points in Advance Saves You Money!

If you have the Club Carlson credit card, you get the last night free when you use points to book 2 or more consecutive nights.  So for 50,000 Club Carlson points you would get 2 nights at the Radisson Blu Style Hotel, Vienna.

So you’re paying $203 for 50,000 points which get you 2 nights (if you have the Club Carlson card) at a hotel which costs $233 a night or $466 for 2 nights!

So you’re saving $263 ($466 cost of 2 nights in Vienna – $203 cost of buying 50,000 points).  That’s a pretty good deal!

You can use Club Carlson points at any Club Carlson brand hotel:

Club Carlson points can be transferred to certain airlines at a 10:1 ratio (sign in required), but this is expensive and not a good deal.

Because Club Carlson point purchases are processed through Points.com, buying Club Carlson points doesn’t count as a travel purchase.  So you won’t get extra points if you use the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

And it won’t count as a travel expense if you want to redeem Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite Mastercard points (although, you get 2X points per $1 you spend as with any purchase).

If you bought Club Carlson points during the Daily Getaways, you would not be able to buy Club Carlson points through this offer because you can only buy (or transfer) a maximum of 40,000 Club Carlson points per year.

Bottom Line

You could save money buying Club Carlson points instead of paying cash if you have the Club Carlson card.

Purchased Club Carlson points won’t count as travel expenses so you won’t get extra points if you use your Chase Sapphire Preferred card or your Barclaycard Arrival Plus card.

If you’ve already bought Club Carlson points this year, you might not be able to take advantage of this deal.

But be sure to do the math to see if buying points makes sense for you.

So angry did not get bonus points!!!they say not within time!

I used your link to purchase 40,000 points on June 19th (at 4pm) but did not receive my bonus points.

Logging into my Club Carlson rewards account today shows I was only credited 40,000 points.

Is there a delay in receiving the bonus points that I’m missing here?

I would rather MS the same amount of points for $110

@Kate – You should be able to get both.

@Marilyn B – Thanks!

Are you sure about this? : “If you bought Club Carlson points during the Daily Getaways, you would not be able to buy Club Carlson points through this offer because you can only buy (or transfer) a maximum of 40,000 Club Carlson points per year.”

Last year (exactly 1 year today), I tweeted Club Carlson asking if one could buy during a flash sale and also snag a 100K Great Getaways offer with their 40K limit. Their reply:

Club Carlson ‏@clubcarlson · Jun 19 @marib117 Hi! Yes, you can take advantage of both offers. Thanks for reaching out! So might want to tweet them and ask.

As for us, just got 8 free nights in April in Brussels and Amsterdam by alternating 2 night reservations for husband and me. Both due for our 40K renewal bonus, and not sure we will be staying at any CC hotels in next year. So on the fence for this. They are offering so many points deals, and there are so many blog posts about the 2nd night free and how people “work” it, that you have to wonder what’s coming.

Do you earn 2 anniversary bonuses for having 2 credit cards? One Business, one personal. Or do they limit to one per cardholder?
