Deal or No Deal?
Today’s deals are for CityPASS discount ticket packages. These are booklets with tickets to attractions in major North American tourist destinations.
This is NOT a good deal if you’re buying tickets for children ages 3 to 12. You’ll always pay much less for kids if you buy directly through the CityPASS website.
And you will only save money on this deal if you use your American Express card to save 10%. Otherwise, the prices are the same as on the CityPASS website!
The deal goes live today at 1:00 pm EST, so you’ll need to have the site loaded on your browser and ready to click on the deal just prior to that time. There are only a few hundred deals available, so they’ll probably sell out quickly.
Once activated, CityPASS ticket booklets are valid for 9 consecutive days, so you wouldn’t be able to use some of the tickets on 1 trip and save the rest for another visit.
1. Visit 4 of San Francisco’s Top Attractions for $86
You can buy a CityPASS to visit 4 of San Francisco’s Top Attractions for $86 (~$77 if you use your American Express card).
This package includes:
- Unlimited rides on San Francisco’s famous cable cars (regularly $6 per ride), as well as all municipal streetcars and buses for 7 consecutive days
- Blue & Gold Fleet Bay Cruise Adventure (1 hour cruise)
- General admission to California Academy of Sciences
- General admission to Monterey Bay Aquarium or Aquarium of the Bay
- General admission to Exploratorium or the de Young Museum & Legion of Honor

I checked the CityPASS website to compare this deal to the regular price. CityPASS sells their packages directly for $86, the same price as this deal! You would save ~$11 with Daily Getaways only if you used your American Express card ($86 regular price – $77 American Express price).
That said, the retail price of these attractions (purchased separately) is ~$160, so you’d save money – but only if you had time to visit all the attractions.
2. Visit 5 of Atlanta’s Top Attractions for $74
You can buy a CityPASS to visit 5 of Atlanta’s Top Attractions for $74 (~$67 if you use your American Express card).
This package includes:
- Deepo Pass to Georgia Aquarium
- General admission to World of Coca-Cola
- General admission to Inside CNN Studio Tour
- General admission to Zoo Atlanta or Atlanta History Center
- General admission to Fernbank Museum of Natural History or High Museum of Art

I checked the CityPASS website to compare this deal to the regular price. CityPASS sells their packages directly for $74, the same price as this deal! You would save ~$7 with Daily Getaways only if you used your American Express card ($74 regular price – $67 American Express price).
The price of these attractions (purchased separately) is ~$137, so if had time to visit every attraction you’d save money.
3. Visit 5 of Chicago’s Top Attractions for $94
You can buy a CityPASS to visit 5 of Chicago’s Top Attractions for $94 (~$85 if you use your American Express card).
This package includes:
- VIP Entry to Shedd Aquarium
- Fast pass admission to Skydeck Chicago
- All-access pass to The Field Museum
- VIP Entry to Museum of Science and Industry or 360 Chicago (formerly John Hancock Observatory)
- VIP Entry to Adler Planetarium or Fast Pass admission to Art Institute of Chicago
Emily and I really enjoy Chicago. We especially love the Chicago Art Institute. I’d highly recommend the architecture boat tours that take you around downtown Chicago in a boat along the Chicago River.

I checked the CityPASS website to compare this deal to the regular price. CityPASS sells their packages directly for $94, the same price as this deal! You would save ~$9 with Daily Getaways only if you used your American Express card ($94 regular price – $85 American Express price).
Again, you’d pay ~$188 if you bought tickets to all the attractions separately. So you’d save money if you were able to visit all the attractions in 9 days.
4. Visit 5 of Seattle’s Top Attractions for $64
You can buy a CityPASS to visit 5 of Seattle’s Top Attractions for $64 (~$58 if you use your American Express card).
This package includes:
- Day & night (same day) admission to the Space Needle
- General admission to Seattle Aquarium
- Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour
- General admission to EMP Museum or Woodland Park Zoo
- General admission to Pacific Science Center or The Museum of Flight
I haven’t visited the Museum of Flight in Seattle, but I have a pilot friend who thought it was amazing.

I checked the CityPASS website to compare this deal to the regular price. CityPASS sells their packages directly for $64, the same price as this deal! You would save ~$6 with Daily Getaways only if you used your American Express card ($94 regular price – $85 American Express price).
You’d spend ~$119 if you bought tickets to all these attractions separately. But again, you’ll only save if you manage to get to all the attractions.
5. Visit 6 of New York’s Top Attractions for $109
You can buy a CityPASS to visit 6 of New York’s Top Attractions for $109 (~$98 if you use your American Express card).
This package includes:
- General admission to the Empire State Building Observatory (day & night)
- General admission to the American Museum of Natural History
- General admission to the Metropolitan Museum of Art
- General admission to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)
- General admission to Top of the Rock Observation Deck or the Guggenheim Museum
- General admission to Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island or Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise
Emily had a lot of fun shopping on our last trip to New York. Besides the terrific restaurants, Emily and I both had a great time watching a Broadway show.

I checked the CityPASS website to compare this deal to the regular price. CityPASS sells their packages directly for $109, the same price as this deal! You would save ~$11 with Daily Getaways only if you used your American Express card ($109 regular price – $98 American Express price).
It costs ~$185 to buy tickets for all these attractions separately. But only buy a CityPASS if you’re confident you can get to all 6 of these attractions, otherwise it might not be worth it.
Bottom Line
With today’s Daily Getaways, you can buy CityPASS discounted ticket booklets for tourist attractions in San Francisco, Atlanta, Seattle, Chicago, and New York.
But the price of the deals is the same as the regular price on the CityPASS website! You’ll only save off the regular price if you use your American Express card (10% discount). So this is really not much of a deal at all.
And you’ll actually pay much more with this deal if you’re traveling as a family. Children’s tickets are much cheaper purchased directly through the CityPASS website.
That said, CityPASS discount ticket booklets can be a good deal in general, if you have time to see all the attractions. The booklets are only good for 9 days after you 1st use them.
Remember, the deal goes live at 1:00 pm EST today. I will NOT be rushing to get this one!
