@MMS,

Thank you for your response.

on the alaskaair website – 20k is the lowest I see for a one-way (alaska airline only) trip from SJC to KOA. I was looking at the award calendar for the next 9 months!!!

In this process – is 1 Alaska Airline mile equivalent to 1 Avios?

@mulbry

Thank you for your insights on this.

I was trying for an off-peak ticket…in January 2013 (I heard from people that it’s off-peak, I may be wrong???)

In any case, I would welcome others also to chip in with their insights.

Thank you in advance.

Best Wishes,

Srini

@Srini – Search for the Alaska Air flight on AA.com. If you see it on AA.com at the milesaaver rate, you should be able to call BA and have them book it at 12.5K miles. However, if your routing is not a direct routing, you’ll pay extra for each segment if you use Avios. You can fly 1 way in coach for 17.5K AA miles, though.

@mulbry – Nope, you’re right! You can only book milesaaver AA flights using BA miles or the low level Alaska Air flights.

@srini

pretty sure you need to find availability with the off peak saver awards on aa.com to be able to book with Avios. and you have to call BA to book the flight if its Alaska Airlines. I hope i am wrong, but i think BA can only book awards with 12,500 Avios if the flight is listed as an off peak saver. I have been trying to find any direct flight from Seattle to Lihue which i know Alaska flies everyday, but can’t get any availability except for the 40k-50k price. I think that means BA won’t book it. Maybe Darius will make our day and tell me i am wrong.

@All,

I was looking at some tickets on the Alaska Airlines website – almost all the tickets (round-trip) from SJC->HNL are being quoted at 50,000 miles (at least) — in one of the messages above it’s mentioned that one-way ticket between SJC-HNL is only 12,500 Avios – but it looks 50,000 right now?

Or Avios valued differently than Alaska Mileage Plan points?

With this I’m confused if I’ll really get two roundtrip tickets with this 50,000 MR points offer (even after the 50% bonus on BA is taken into account) will be sufficient for 2 round-trip tickets to Hawaii.

I may obviously be missing something or the ticket prices went up steeply in the last month.

Could you throw some light on this, please?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Best Wishes,

Srini

I received the “reminder” email that says I have until 5/26 to apply. When I click on the link provided in the email, however, I get an error message on the AMEX page. Think if I call a customer service rep they could still potentially honor this deal?

@Heya – It doesn’t hurt to try, but AMEX hasn’t been very friendly with honoring what their telephone reps promise.
