Via Deals We Like, Southwest is having a sale on flights over the Thanksgiving holiday!  With tickets starting at just $39 or 1,660 Southwest points one-way.

Most routes are more expensive, but there are plenty of good deals out there.  For example, a one-way flight from Austin to New Orleans costs just $76 (or 4,138 Southwest points).

With Southwest’s latest sale, you can book cheap domestic flights over Thanksgiving week!  But valid dates vary depending on the route.

For example, I found one-way flights from Milwaukee to Nashville for $49 (or 2,330 points), to Atlanta for $94 (or 5,344 points), and to New York for $101 (or 5,813 points).

Tickets must be purchased by September 24, 2017, by 11:59 pm at the origin city.  Here’s what you need to know:

  • Continental US travel is valid between November 17, 2017 and November 28, 2017
  • Blackout dates are November 21 to 22, 2017, and November 25 to 27, 2017
  • Domestic travel NOT valid on Fridays and Sundays
  • Tickets are non-refundable

There may also be sales outside of the advertised dates.  So it’s always worth a look to see if the flight you want is on sale.

And if you’ve already booked your Southwest flights, check this sale to see if your flights are available for cheaper.  Because if they are, you can cancel your flight for free and re-book it with the lower price.

Folks like Southwest sales because when the cash price of a ticket goes downaward ticket prices go down.  That’s because Southwest award prices are based on the cash price.

Million Mile Secrets readers also love Southwest because every passenger gets 2 free checked bags.  That can save lots of money!

Plus, if you have the Southwest Companion Pass, you can take a friend or family member with you for free for up to 2 years!  Emily and I consider the Southwest Companion Pass to be the best deal in travel.

Bottom Line

Southwest’s latest sale will hopefully help folks get home for Thanksgiving!

Until  September 24, 2017, at 11:59 pm at the origin city, you can book Southwest flights starting at $39, or 1,660 Southwest points, one-way.  For travel between November 17, 2017, and November 28, 2017, excluding blackout dates.

Eligible dates vary by route, so check the fare sale to see if any flights fit your travel plans.
