Southwest has just extended their flight schedule and you can now book flights through April 7, 2019.
Even if you’re not 100% sure of your travel plans, it’s rarely a bad move to book Southwest flights in advance because they don’t charge cancellation or change fees. If one of the frequent Southwest fare sales pops up with a better deal to your destination, you can cancel and re-book at the lower price for free!
Previously, you could only book flights through March 6, 2019. But now you can book your Spring Break or Easter travel!
If you need more Southwest points, they transfer at a 1:1 ratio from Chase Ultimate Rewards. Or you can transfer Marriott points to Southwest at a 3:1 ratio. Plus, if you transfer 60,000 Marriott points you’ll get a 5,000 Southwest point bonus! So 60,000 Marriott points will end up being converted to 25,000 Southwest points.
While having the option to earn and use Chase Ultimate Rewards points and Marriott points for Southwest flights is nice, if you’re looking for Southwest points, you’ll want to consider opening a Southwest credit card. That’s because the sign-up bonus you earn with a Southwest credit card will count toward earning a Southwest Companion Pass! With it, you can get nearly 2-for-1 travel for up to 2 years!
Just remember, Chase has tightened the restrictions on the Southwest cards. So if you currently have a personal Southwest card, you can’t get a second personal Southwest card. But you can still qualify for the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card. And qualifying for a small business card may not be as hard as you think.
