If you missed out on last week’s Southwest flash sale, here’s another chance to save money (or points!) on Southwest flights!

Via Miles to Memories, Southwest is running a sale with one-way flights starting at $42.  Most routes are pricier, but you could find a good deal on US and international flights!

You must book by June 29, 2017, for travel between August 22, 2017, and December 16, 2017.  Eligible travel dates vary by route.

I’ll share the details.

With the latest Southwest fare sale, one-way flights start at $42.  You’ll only find that fare between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and other routes cost more but can still be a good deal.

For example, I found one-way flights between Long Island / Islip and Orlando for $100 or 5,746 Southwest points.

Here are the details:

  • You must purchase your ticket by June 29, 2017, at 11:59 pm in the respective time zone of the departure city
  • Fares valid only on non-stop service
  • Travel must be between August 22, 2017, and December 16, 2017 on most routes
  • Domestic travel is not valid on Fridays and Sundays, plus additional restrictions depending on the route
  • Tickets are non-refundable

Note:   There are blackout dates and restrictions on certain routes, so make sure you take a look at your travel dates before you book!

If you’ve already booked Southwest flights, check this sale to make sure your flights aren’t available for cheaper.  If they are, just cancel your Southwest flight for free and re-book with the better price.

Want More Southwest Points?

Remember, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points at a 1:1 ratio to Southwest if you have the:

So it’s easy to earn points if you need more points for an award flight!  But remember, points transferred from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Southwest do NOT count toward the Companion Pass.

However, the points you earn from Chase’s 3 Southwest co-branded credit cards DO count towards the Southwest Companion Pass:

These cards have limited-time increased offers, so it’s easier than ever to earn the Southwest Companion Pass!

Note:   If you’ve opened 5+ credit cards in the past 24 months (with the exception of certain small business cards), you will likely NOT be approved for any of these Chase cards.

Hotel Information

If you book a sale flight, remember there are lots of ways to get cheap or free hotel rooms with points from credit card bonuses and spending.

To find hotels that can be booked with points, I use Hotel Hustle (which even shows you if rooms are actually available!) or AwardMapper.

Remember, you can transfer flexible points like Chase Ultimate Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards to different hotel programs.

Note:  If you prefer to book paid stays, check out discount sites like Orbitz, Expedia, or TravelPony for deals.  But remember you won’t get stay credits or points (and might not have your elite status recognized!).

Airbnb is another terrific way to save money on accommodations, especially for longer stays.  Here are some tips on how to negotiate a better Airbnb price, and how to find a safe and comfortable Airbnb.

Interesting that you post a photo promoting traveling to Cuba after Trump just announced travel restrictions.
