Here’s a nice targeted deal if you like Southwest!

Via Deals We Like, some folks are receiving emails offering 2X Southwest points on paid Southwest flights, plus a fast-track challenge to A-List elite status.

You’ll earn double Southwest points on new bookings only for travel through September 30, 2017.  And to earn A-List elite status, you must fly 6 one-way flights by the same date to earn status through December 31, 2017.  Or fly 10 one-ways to earn status until December 31, 2018!

Targeted 2X Airline Miles And Fast Track To Elite Status
Earn Double Southwest Points and Fast-Track to Elite Status on Flights Through September 30, 2017

I’ll share the details!

Southwest 2X Points and Elite Status Promotion

Link:   Southwest Promotions

Link:   Southwest A-List Elite Status

Check your email and spam folder or sign-in to your Southwest account through this link to see if you’ve been targeted to earn double Southwest points!

If you’re eligible, you’ll earn 2X Southwest points on new bookings for travel through September 30, 2017.  Folks who already have reservations should check if their fare has gone down, because you can cancel and re-book at the lower price without penalty.

With this offer, you’re also eligible for a fast-track challenge for Southwest A-List elite status.  Book and fly 6 one-way flights by September 30, 2017, to earn status through the end of 2017.  Or fly 10 one-ways and your status will be good through December 31, 2018!

Targeted 2X Airline Miles And Fast Track To Elite Status
Earn Southwest A-List Elite Status and Get Priority Boarding to Avoid Sitting at the Back of the Plane!

Normally, you’d need 25 one-way flights or 35,000 tier-qualifying Southwest points in a calendar year to earn A-List status.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to earn Southwest status, because everyone on Southwest already gets 2 free checked bags and can change or cancel flights without penalty.  With A-List status you’ll get:

  • Priority boarding
  • 25% points bonus on paid flights
  • Free same-day standby
  • Priority check-in and security
  • Dedicated A-List member phone line

But if fly Southwest often and these perks are worth it to you, it could make sense to move paid flights to Southwest for this challenge!

If you want more Southwest points, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points from cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, and Ink Business Preferred to Southwest at a 1:1 ratio.

Or consider the highest-ever limited time sign-up bonuses on the Chase Southwest cards.  You’ll earn 60,000 Southwest points after meeting minimum spending requirements on the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card, or Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card.

And by opening 2 of these cards, you’ll have more than enough points to earn the Southwest Companion Pass.  It’s still the best deal in travel!

Bottom Line

If you’ve been targeted, you’ll earn 2X Southwest points on paid Southwest flights booked and flown by September 30, 2017.

And you can complete a fast-track challenge to A-List elite status by flying 6 one-way flights by December 31, 2017.  Or complete 10 one-way flights by the same date to earn status through December 31, 2018!

I was targeted and I do have some points booked flights coming up. But when I looked at the cost of the price I realized I’d rather pay with points than get 2x.

Not targeted, have only flown 1 RT flight this year on SW

I double checked our flights and all the current prices are higher than what we paid so this promotion won’t work for us. Is it worth it to pay 2x the price for some extra “long term” time savings (priority boarding)?

I wouldn’t pay more for your flights just to earn A-List status. You can get a decent boarding position by checking in as close to 24 hours prior to departure as possible: https://millionmilesecrets.com/2017/01/26/6-tips-for-checking-in-online-on-southwest/

I did not receive any offer, darn!!

My offer was slightly different in a good way: A List thru 2017 for 3 RT, thru 2018 for 5 RT.

How is it different? 6 one ways = 3 RT and 10 one ways = 5 RT
