Southwest Airlines is one of my favorite airlines, and it will soon be flying to Hawaii!  Hawaii is one of my favorite places to visit, and I’ve been there three times!  For my most recent trip, I used 90,000 American Airlines miles total for 2 round-trip flights.  The total cost was just ~$22!

I’m really excited for Southwest Airlines flying to Hawaii because I can use my Southwest Companion Pass, and use Chase Ultimate Rewards points that I’ll transfer to Southwest!  I’m focusing on increasing my supply of Chase Ultimate Rewards points so that I will have enough points to fly family and friends out to Hawaii, too!  Here are all the ways to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which you can transfer to Southwest Airlines for free!

Why the Southwest Companion Pass Is My Favorite Airline Deal

Because I have a travel partner I regularly fly with, having a perk like the Southwest Companion Pass is very valuable to me.  With the Southwest Companion Pass, I can add a travel partner to ANY Southwest flight paid for with cash OR with points!  All I have to do is pay the extra taxes and fees, which is usually around ~$11.20 per person.

This means that all my flights on Southwest are essentially 50% off because I can add my partner without using any extra Southwest points!

Let me say that again, when Southwest Airlines starts flying to Hawaii, I can add my partner to my flight without using any extra Southwest points!

The Southwest Companion Pass Has Saved Our Family Thousands of Dollars!

I’m Planning to Get Up to 2 Years of 2-for-1 Flights on Southwest Airlines!

My Southwest Companion Pass is expiring at the end of this year in December 2018, so I’m applying for credit cards that will get me the Companion Pass again for 2019 AND 2020.  That’s right—the Southwest Companion Pass is valid for the calendar year you receive it, AND the year after!  So I’m planning on applying for the credit cards and meeting the minimum spend in January 2019.

You’ll need to be strategic on which credit cards you apply for and when.  Now is the best time to apply for the Chase Southwest Airlines credit cards.  Just be sure to complete the minimum spending in (or after) January 2019 so that you don’t accidentally earn the Southwest Companion Pass in 2018.

You’ll also need to apply for 1 business credit card and 1 personal credit card.  I recently applied–and got approved–for the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card.

If you do have an eBay business and sell a moderate amount of goods, what would you be able to show Chase to prove the legitimacy of the small business?

In some instances you won’t have to show any proof. It just depends on your credit and your relationship with Chase.

I’ve been a long time customer with a Chase and don’t recall ever being asked for proof of my business.

If you are asked for proof, many people in online forums have reported success by giving Chase a copy of an EIN filing with the IRS. You can do a quick google search for “IRS apply for EIN”, and best of all its free and can be done online in a matter of minutes!

I am going through hoops w/ Chase to get the Southwest Business card. I applied and was not immediately approved. Chase wants proof that my legitimate business is legitimate, which I will provide. In the meantime, how soon can I apply for one of the Southwest personal cards? Is now too soon, particularly with an application outstanding and still not resolved?

Do some research online to see what others’ experiences have been. I can’t really comment how soon you should apply because it’s different for everyone.

Good luck to you!
