We devote thousands of hours of research to help you get Big Travel with Small Money. You support us by signing-up for credit cards through partner links which earn us a commission. Here’s our full Advertising Policy.
Update: One or more card offers in this post are no longer available. Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.
I wrote earlier this week that the increased 50,000 mile bonus on the Chase Southwest cards would be going away very soon.
Chase has reduced the sign-up bonus on my link for the Chase Southwest Premier card to 25,000 points after you spend $2,000 in the 1st 3 months.
The good news is, the 50,000 point bonus offer for this card is still available on the Chase website. But I’m not sure how long it will last!
I’ll always let you know of better offers, even if we don’t earn a commission from them! As always, the Hot Deals tab is updated with the latest offers!
If you haven’t yet, now is the perfect time to apply for 2 Southwest 50,000 point cards and earn the Southwest Companion Pass in early 2015.
What’s the Deal?

Link: Chase Southwest Premier (Business)
Even though Chase has reduced the sign-up bonus on my link for the Chase Southwest Premier card, there’s still a link for the 50,000 point version available on the Chase website.
And I’ll always tell you about the best deal even when it doesn’t earn me a commission.
The application page says “Limited Time,” but there’s no end date listed. Please comment if you have links for the Plus versions of the cards!
Good News If You Want the Companion Pass!
This is great for folks who still might be thinking of earning the Southwest Companion Pass in early 2015. With the Companion Pass, your companion flies with you for almost free on both paid and award tickets.
By applying for 2 cards with a 50,000 point bonus (plus earning 6,000 points from meeting minimum spending requirements), you’ll have almost all the required points for the Southwest Companion Pass. To get the Companion Pass, you need to earn 110,000 points in a calendar year.
If you apply now and time your minimum spending correctly, you can earn the Companion Pass in early 2015 and get nearly 2 years of Big Travel with Small Money!
The Companion Pass expires on December 31 the year after you earned it. So folks who get the pass in early 2015 would be able to use it until December 31, 2016.
If you don’t get in on these offers now, don’t worry. Most of the time there’s at least ONE Southwest card available with the increased bonus. And the 50,000 point cards usually come back every few months.
You can still get the increased 50,000 point sign-up bonus on the Chase Southwest Premier (personal) card directly through the Chase website.
Although I’m not sure how long it will last.
Signing-up for 2 Southwest cards with a 50,000 point bonus is a great way to earn most of the points for the Southwest Companion Pass. If you earn the pass in early 2015, it will be valid for almost 2 years.
